I'm around 5Kg away from my goal weight now, and looking much better for it, and I can fit into a load of clothes I haven't worn for a good few years

This was one of my first "big goals" (I kinda go by both lbs and kg to have more targets laugh.gif) I hit that target today! cool.gif

Also, here's a comparison from the other day and then from 18 months ago smile.gif

You're doing great Ben. It's tough to keep the discipline and motivation up on what is really an hour by hour thing. The focus for making good choices has to be there all time.

I'm a control freak so it does help and I'm less than 3kg from my goal weight now but not necessarily my goal shape (I'm also horribly vain!), but it's getting there.

I honestly don't think I'm focused at all on choices. laugh.gif I'm just enjoying exercise football training twice a week and that's my only "focus". I'm still eating pizza a couple of times a month or 3, some other bad things too. I'm not focused too much on the food. But all my numbers in regards to blood work tests have been perfect since I started, so that's pretty neat laugh.gif

It's funny reading my post from last July.
My weight loss plan back then was quite half hearted and I was fooling myself.

At the beginning of the year I went back to the Ketogenic way of eating. It was really effective for me about 7 years ago when I was in the best shape I'd ever been in, good amount of muscle low body fat and having abs etc.

I worked out my macros from my TDEE minus ~20% for weight loss, with 0.8g protein per Lb of body weight, limit net carbs to max of 25g and the remainder being fats.

I weigh everything that goes in my mouth.

But at nearly 11Kg gone in 14 weeks. and my mental health is the best it's been in a long time. It's worth it

Once I'm where I want to be I keep eating this way with increased intake so I stop losing weight, and have a carb meal every 2 weeks or so.

It's definitely not for everyone but this works well for me.

Yeah, that would take too much energy for me, but it's really really cool it's working for you and giving you results smile.gif

My main focus has been to have fun, and if I put more mental energy in than I get out of it, then it becomes draining and not fun and I'll lose motivation smile.gif And luckily just from playing football it's also been around 10-12 kg since the start of January. Might be around 14 weeks too smile.gif

Easier to do it at your age than at mine!

Luckily I only had around 13Kg to lose and to put some more muscle on to satisfy my vanity biggrin.gif

I think it's all about finding what works for the individual. It's really great that you lost the 13 kg! It's also a larger % of your full bodyweight than 13 kg would be for me.

As said earlier, I needed something that was fun, as I knew going the diet+gym way hasn't worked in all the attempts at it I've done in the past. It's just not enjoyable for me at all. But wake me up at 4 AM in the night and say: "you wanna go play football in 15 minutes?" and I'd be there in 10 minutes. Much more of a natural motivation for that smile.gif

You are doing great on your journey and it's cool you have found what works. Everybody is a bit different, sorta like learning guitar or learning anything, we gotta find a process that works for us individually to some degree to make good progress. Following a process that doesn't work on a personally level is often doomed to fail.

Fun little video. Copying the description from elsewhere:

Here's just a fun "all touches/highlights from Benjamin Storm Linnebjerg vs Guldholdet" (8 a-side game) video for you all. Enjoy! More info below.

As you know I play football on an exercise football team. We don't usually play matches (only in training, like 5v5 or at best 7v7), but at an event at the club last Saturday we played a "show exhibition match". The average age of our team (blue, overweight dudes) is like 55-60. We played against "The Gold Team", which is a team of guys who's been in the club for around 50-60 years. Their average age is probably around 70. It was quite a lot of fun and made me miss playing real matches. But there's a lot of weight to get rid off first... maybe some day!

Annoyingly I had been ill with a virus in the 7 days leading up to this (not covid, mind you, and I'm still fighting the last bit of it 7 days later...). First time in like 10 years I've caught something like that and it happens to be the worst timing. But it went alright anyway and I was 80% fine.

some people cant lose weight, dont diet, change your life style, eat healthier, eat what your body needs, eat your calories dont drink them, some carbs is good, to many carbs create weight gain, be active for at least 30 minutes a day, if its foot ball, then its better than nothing, what keeps me going is seeing the gains and knowing that even when i dont see gains its not always something im doing, i started working out at the start of this year trying to get my weight back down, i was not seeing gains and when i did some research i found out that it could be to muscle gain, this is why they say take pics, either way im down about 15 lbs now, i was sick for about 2 weeks and this has been a set back for me, i have been trying to get back into it, it cost to much for gas to keep me in the gym so i have put together a home gym, dont think of it as losing weight but think of it as trying to be healthy, i quite smoking after smoking for about 4 years, im eating better, less microwaved food, i cook for my kid and myself so i do understand your more likely to cook when it is for someone else, build a routine, im working on rebuilding mine now that my kid is home for the summer, your doing a good job, this has inspired me to want to keep working on myself, looking forward to your progress report smile.gif ps: i started about 6 years ago, was up to 292 lbs, lost 50 lbs, gained it back and some up to 298 lbs, i refuse to hit that 300 lbs mark, i have started working out again back in January, down to 286 lbs ~ 290lbs, keep it up smile.gif

I started out at 338 lbs and now down to around 298 lbs. Still quite a bit to go for me, but it's a start. I'm somewhat of a stocky build though, so my goal is 220 lbs (at 5'10). When I was that weight last time around I was doing physical activity perfectly fine (i.e. 50 miles on a bicycle, proper football training and matches.

And yeah, it's about finding what works. The whole cooking thing doesn't do much for me, but as long as I'm seeing progress through football and as long as I can up the amount of exercise I do safely, I'll keep doing that, i.e. maybe 4 times a week of football training (twice with the team and twice by myself). That comes much more natural to me than cooking healthy. Of course at some point I might have to adjust on other parameters than just exercise, i.e. also food.

Thanks, Todd!

Yeah, I'm happy I managed to be at least like 80% ready for it. I was still feeling a bit sluggish and drained physically from the illness, but I'm very happy I got to join, as otherwise I'd have had to wait another year. Also just cool to maybe see the progress in a year if that's recorded too.

I know it's not the same angle on the two photos, but I just noticed the difference one day. One is from just the other day, the other is from August 2020. About 55 lbs worth of difference (25 kg). I had some overexertion issues with my foot that took a while to go away, so I've been down to 2 times a week of training for a while, but got some new insoles to my football boots, which has cleared that issue. I managed to get a very slight muscle strain last Friday, but I think I can start slowly again at 25% by Tuesday and hopefully be fine Friday. At that point I'd like to crank it back up to 3 or 4 times of training a week. cool.gif
