I am a few states away, but it makes me really sad to see so much destruction. Back in 2009 the California State Park caught fire and I had to help some friends and my ex girlfriend evacuate their homes(the State Park entrance is about 2 km from my house).

The damage here was nowhere near as bad as Colorado, though. I kinda feel sad for all the animals. I really hope they catch the person(s) responsible, if there are any. Arson really irritates me.

I have friends out in Colorado that have had to be evacuated. Wildfires are very scary because they can change direction at any moment with the wind.

I wish I could give them some of our water from Tropical Storm Debby. Here is my side yard & my neighbor's front yard. That level area of water is actually a drainage ditch about "knee-high" deep.



Here is my side yard next to my neighbor's.



We were very lucky. As I drive through our streets there are many houses with water inside their homes.

Wow what news from the States - the climate is changing of course , but in America the nature is acting really hard the last years .

Blister, where in Florida are you? I live up in Tallahassee, on the far north side and we got grazed by it pretty good. A ton of rain but most of the flooding was on the south side of the city/county. Literally 30-40 miles east of us was/is completely underwater.

I would still take hurricanes over wildfires though. My brother lives out in New Mexico and they've had several bad fires around his area since he's been out there. Those things are just so destructive to EVERYTHING around them.

Wow, Gary, here in Arkansas, we are under a burn ban because it has been so dry. It's been up in the 100s.

I believe this was one of those "100 year floods", someone told me today that the last time it rained like this was 1921. So nine years early but close enough for Mother Nature.


We (Florida) haven't had any bad hurricanes in about five years & hurricane season started June 1 & goes til November 1. Odds kind of make you wonder if it might be rough hurricane season this year.


We do have a couple of Florida GMC'ers!

I live in Lake City just East of Live Oak (about 20 minutes away) which took the brunt of the storm. Greg, this short video from the weather channel might be the town you were talking about. Glad you made it ok. I agree with you about the hurricanes. At least you know they are coming & have time to get away.



Believe it or not we actually have a burn ban & water use restriction right now. The Florida Aquifer, what all our wells tap into, has been getting lower for years causing great concern over our fresh water supply.

And though this is a lot more water than we are used to & it has caused a lot of damage, we do live in a humid tropical climate & most of us are prepared for this type of weather.

So many people have lost their homes to fire & water. Please keep them all in your prayers. It has to be a horrible feeling to lose nearly everything that you own.

Yeah guys this has been a crazy year so far in the states. Where I live (Virginia, West Virginia border) on Friday experienced what weather dudes ( I can't spell that meteoroligist word.....arghhh) call a Derecho.

In my area we got some extremely strong winds in excess of 80 mighs an hour and really violent thunderstorms for two sucessive nights. It hit the area really fast and with no warning knocked out power for millions of people, including mine for four days. Thankfully my family got off light, aside from being out of power and losing some lawn funiture that got blown away and smashed to pieces by the wind. Lost all the food in our freezer also due to the power outages but no one was hurt. However I know people who have lost their homes due to wind damage, and its still kinda nuts around here what with people buying up all the gas that is available, or stealing it and other things like generators. Lots of people still don't have any power and it may be next week some time before it is fully restored. Keep us in your prayers, and I will remember those in Colorado and Florida as well.

I just heard about the Derecho on NPR this morning(I haven't been paying attention to the news these last few days because I have been sick, but they have been covering it since it happened). Millions are still without power from the midwest to the Atlantic Coast. What is our country coming to?

Wow, Casino, I totally missed that weather nightmare. Glad your family is ok. 80 mph winds? That's hurricane weather. Those winds can do so much damage!

Yeah I have been in a huricane before, and while this didn't last nearly as long, only about 45 min- to 1 hour, it was really intense. Thankfully I got my power back on, but there are people here who are probably not going to get their power back till next week sometime. And right now its 93 degrees, so a lot of people are suffering heat stroke as a result of no air conditioning.
