Hey guys, don't know if this is the right place to post this, but it seemed to me it is.

The thing is that I got a "dismantle, repair/improve or ruin forever things" natural instinct and as you're already imagining, I did that with my guitar too. Everything has gone pretty well though... Changed pickups to a pir of nice EMG's myself, made a metal custom pickguard and installed it myself, and I've also calibrated and adjusted action of my guitar. I've taken out the neck too, and here's tha problem... I noticed a couple of days ago that mu high E string didn't produce powerful harmonics... So I looked closer and noticed that my strings are a little "moved" on the neck (I attached a picture for your convenience ).

I imagine that it can be the nut, because I also moved it once when I was "exploring" my guitar but it could also be that I have to readjust the whole neck, because I have taken it off from the guitar, too... So I want to know if that is what is happenning with my harmonics. Is that the reason why I'm getting a very low harmonic from that string? Or is it something else? I know it's not a technique issue, because I get LOUD harmonics everywhere else...

Suggestions?...

IMO, the string spacing looks good at the nut., however,looking at the pics of the body,they look way off toward the low E. What type of bridge and have you moved it any? looks to me like that may be the problem. Actives pick up well but looks like you hardly have any room to even fret the low E.

I completely agree with skennington, did you remove and reattach the bridge? If you did and its a hardtail bridge i.e. non trem thru body make sure you put it back on the right way.

cause if its on backwards it could cause the problem your describing because the low E string gouged out a space for it to settle, backwards with the high E string in that saddle the string isnt pinched quite enough because its loose in the saddle.

Seems to me this whole neck is off centered. Is your neck bolt-on? If it is you have to unscrew it a little (first release the tension on the strings!!), and center it by pulling it towards the HIGH E STRING.

I agree with the previous speakers.

If the bridge was removed, was it put back right?
Is the neck put back straight?

Yeah, I've taken it off lots of times when I change strings, but I guess it's very hard that that could be the reason. As you can see in the pic, there are not so many chance for it to be incorrectly positioned, unless the little metal piece with the screws is upside down (I mean the one used to get the real tones from all the neck)... But I've checked in internet, and screws should be facing the neck, so I think that's not the problem...




I'm trying this one out... I've taken the neck off, and I always screw it until it's completely unmovable. You mean that I should let it a little loose, adjust the position and re-screw it?

If you have taken the neck off in past that is the most probable solution (to fix its position).

Looks like your bridge is on backwards to me..

I don't know... mind that it'a a lefty. Or did you guys mean something other than the leaning direction?

Some bridges have their adjusments screws faced that way, some not. Compare with an original picture of your model.
To me the nut seems to be "nuts".
Take a look at how the three thickest strings go from the nut to the machine heads. Looks wrong to me.

Unfortunatly it's hard to tell from the picture.
Also the neck could be wrong. The spacing to your neck PU seems to big, but since you changed PU's that might be OK.

/another also:
The adjustments for intonation on the bridge looks weird. Might be correct, but I've never seen them adjusted like that)

comparing the 2 pics you have {yours and the factory} the bridge is on backwards .looking at the micro tuners they face the tail stock

a front picture would make it easier to see, like the factory guitar pic.

I just saw this. I think the bridge is backwards too

i see your briedge is not centered turn the briedge lefy to the right if its not ok then your neck has some loose
in centering

The bridge looks fine to me, at least that's how it os on my epiphone SG ever since I bought it.

Edit: I mean it's not backwards, don't know if it's centered, but certainly not backwards, at least if it is like the epiphone sg g400 bridge.

It looks backwards if you compare it with the picture of the bridge of a Gibson, but yours seems to be epiphone right?
