Just an update Muris:
I quit your B major lesson for a while to concentrate on my pinky as you suggested.
Man, it's quite hard to get that little friend working!!!
But I promise that as soon as I'm confident with it
and that I've nailed your lesson I'll post you the video (probably in lower tempo!)
for more fingering and picking advices! smile.gif

A decent pinky exercise is the good old 1,2,3,4 exercise its very common, so apologies if you`ve seen it already, just trying to help wink.gif

Start off on the bottom E string first fret "F" then reverse

Continue this up the fret board at different starting positions

Also try variations of it

+1 as Smells says. And to also add that it can help to vary the pattern so that pinky doesn't always precede or follow your 3rd finger ie:

--3 4 1 2----------------------------------------------------------------------
--4 2 3 1----------------------------------------------------------------------
--2 4 1 3----------------------------------------------------------------------
--4 2 3 1----------------------------------------------------------------------
--1 4 2 3----------------------------------------------------------------------
-1 2 3 4-----------------------------------------------------------------------


etc etc. As ever - with a metronome smile.gif .

I'm really sorry... I did my best to improve and to nail your B major Techniques Lesson for Beginners.
But I have to give up. I'm just too limited, and that lesson is just TOO MUCH for me at the moment. mad.gif
I'll keep on practicing it along with AP, scales, metronome, theory etc. etc.
But I'm not up to it! I'm really sorry, but I just have to get back on the ground!
I'm doing scale runs with your suggestion in mind: first note index-last one pinky.
And I'm patiently waiting for your one string-scale lesson smile.gif
Thought I could tackle it, I'm sorry...
But since you called it "Intermediate" maybe you could do
a truely "Beginner" lesson with different techniques in 2008?

The deal is,I probably putted to much into that lesson
cause it's really hard to make straight line between levels,it really is...
Until I make another lesson of that kind you should try this one at slower tempo,
per example,advanced lesson at 120bpm might be intermediate at 80bpm
or even beginner at 50,of course material inside would still be on advance level
but you might be able to play it clearly at lower tempos.

To be honest with you once more,I made this B major in bit faster tempo,
then I slowed it down to make it more intermediate/beginner.

All your efforts are well appreciated,keep practicing,you're doing great job Eddie!! smile.gif

As you know, I started "playing" on the 7th of september,
the same date I joined GMC, so I really have to realise
that "You can't always get what you want" (reminds you a bit of the Rolling Stones? What a song!)

Very quick question about technique/fingering:
The 2 whole note steps: I tend to play them Index-Ring Finger-Pinky.
I know that you do them Index-Middle Finger-Pinky.
Should I change my fingering?

I've played around 13-14 years and I've used mostly index,middle and pinky for 2 whole steps.
And as good exercise I sometimes use index,ring and pinky,for ALL shapes,
semi and whole,whole and semi,2 whole etc.
Since ring and pinky are well connected (hard to split tho)
I'm trying to break that friendship here and there. wink.gif

So,if you feeling comfortable with your current fingering,why not to keep it?
Paul Gilbert uses index,ring and pinky all the time
but that's his personal choice and matter. smile.gif
