I'm going to buy it but wanted to know how has it helped you guys to become better guitarists.
I know how to read tabs but buying it based off the idea that it will help me with timing. Any input will be greatly appreciated!

-Steve

I got it about 3 months after signing up here and ive been very glad i did. you can slow any tricky section down to a crawl and learn it that way. It has also helped my timing on more than a few lessons. And if you ever look up song tabs on like ultimateguitar.com you can just download the guitar pro tab for it instead of deciphering someones awfully transcribed tab. I recommend it!

some of the more helpful features are (for me) :
  • Scale lookup
  • chord charts (with many different voicings)
  • metronome
  • loop feature
  • speed trainer (loops and increases speed slightly each time)
  • learn other peoples interpretations of your favourite songs
  • open all the lesson gp5 files wink.gif
  • scale finder (ie what scale does this use??)

Hi Steve smile.gif

To make it clear,GP is indeed great tool for learning but just like everything else
it's worthless without hard practicing. biggrin.gif

I really want Guitar Pro but I think I'll wait till next year (my birthday) for my parents to buy it for me. Until then, I've been using good old Power Tabs. Free and nearly as good as Guitar Pro.

guitar pro is amazing. ive used it since GP3, the only thing i was disappointed with GP5 was the "Real Sound Engine"... took up so much space yet sounded really bad.

GP is very versatile and that is it's main power. Anybody can use it for different purposes. For example I use it when I need to tab something, but not for practicing.
