I would like to see a pinned topic on one of the boards, or maybe a portal page in the Wiki where Instructors and Members can say if they are in a competition like Guitar Idol, etc. and have the links all on that page for the currently running contests.

This would need to be updated with new contests and expired ones taken away.

It would be a fast way for us to ram our votes through for our guys!

Definitely a good idea. I could make an entry on GMC journal providing current entries in competitions, etc. Anyone interested in being featured there can leave their entry link in this thread, and I can set the wiki entry no prob smile.gif

Once it's running anyone can easily just enter the wiki and add their own contest entry name & link in there, or delete it when the contest is over, etc.

I have featured many entries as pieces of news in the journal, but there might be some I forgot or didn't spot smile.gif

Having a forum thread containing this info would be cool too, but the advantage of the wiki over that is that anyone could update the wiki entry at any given time, specially those taking part in the contest. We could link the forum thread to the wiki entry. That would catch attention & make it easy to update at the same time cool.gif

OK!, you are welcome to leave the link to any current contest entries in this thread, and I'll take a look and have the wiki contest entry running when we have some input smile.gif

I thought Ivan had a Guitar Idol '09 entry? I know someone besides Muris did, or is he the only one in the finals?

Ok, I just set up a small Competition Central entry on our wiki, which should do the job.

It's also featured at the GMC:er Spotlight section of our Journal.

Keep the entries coming! cool.gif

Great Job Fran! I wish I had thought of this before the Dean Shredder contest since we had quite a few in that one.

Sorry if a don't get the name exactly right but wasn't it Pantera (or something like that) who made it to the second heat of Guitar Idol 09?

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
