Good evening!
Tomorrow, I am going to have a music exam. I changed school and section (from maths section to music section) and I have to learn all the stuff my new class did last year.
My program:
-Music history (
Middle Ages: Gregorian choir [modes and neumen], troubadours, ancient polyphonie,
Renaissance: motet, mass, Luther,
Jazz: preforms of popular music)
-Harmony (cadences, counterpoint/descant, the triad and his inversions, [perfect and not perfect] consonances, dissonances)
-play two pieces on guitar (I chose: "Etude N°8" by Napoleon Coste AND "In Sorrow´s Wake" by Andrew York)
-sing two pieces (which my teacher chose: "Nun ruhen alle Wälder" a german folksong [composition by J.S. Bach] AND "Siyahamba" an african song)
I am pretty new to harmony, but my teacher said that I am very good at it and make not many mistakes.
My problems are mainly singing and history. If I really know the song, I can sing it. History is pretty interesting, but it is so much and it´s difficult to remember. However, I will master everything. I learned for few days now and still have left some hours.
Wish me luck!
Cheers,
Tolek
