Audacity and Reaper also will do this, but this is more convenient I think. It works well.

Windows Media Player version 10 and up lets you change the playback speed if you right click the play/pause button. If you're on a pc Windows OS you've probably got Media Player already. The playback quality is ok, not brilliant, but ok.

You can try MP3 Speed Changer, it has tempo decrease and increase option with percents. It also has batch processing.

Just downloaded this and tried it: it does exactly what I've been looking for, and works on the mac. Changes speeds from 1/5 to 2x without shifting pitch, loops selected intervals, and has a vocal suppression algorithm. Thanks for the tip!
