Hey GMC !

To avoid spamming the forum with complaints, I thought I could just use this one thread to put all my feedback. I will post "Edits" as I add new comments, so for anybody looking for my most recent comments, check the topic-starter description, where the new comments will be in bold writing... smile.gif

I know many people will strongly dislike me as I find more mistakes, but I believe we should all be good citizens in GMC's democracy, to make President Dahl's government as perfect as possible ! biggrin.gif Anyway, 99% of the (few) mistakes found on this site are only typos, so no offence should be taken ! smile.gif

1. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/instructors.htm
Marcus Siepen's text says "Our celebrity instructor form the successful band...", and should say "Our celebrity instructor from the successful band...".

2. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/ballad...f_eric_johnson/

The title is "Ballad Solo In the Style of Eric Johnson", but should say "Ballad Solo in the Style of Eric Johnson" to have good use of capital letters. biggrin.gif This lesson is amazing, by the way, you should all check it out ! smile.gif

3. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...on-rock-lesson/
This is a masterpiece, but with my typo scanner I managed to find a single mistake, where Trond writes "following a set of allready determined notes", but should have written "following a set of already determined notes".

Come back for more ! To keep my reputation I have decided not to post any more criticism for now ! biggrin.gif

If you can easily make things look more professional and correct, even if it's just a typo, I can't see any reason not to change it as it certainly makes a better impression for current and potential new members smile.gif

Couldn't agree more - details are what makes the difference (just check Muris' playing!)

I perceive myself as a perfectionist and every mistake at GMC brakes my heart - unfortunately that means that I have a broken heart most of the time (gee I should write a love song).

For the future I hope we will have means of verifying quality in a different way - until then these threads are invaluable, thanks!

These two things have now been fixed - and I am waiting for source files for the series boxes, to fix those as well (typos pointed out in another thread)!

FWIW Kris in my professional experience as a copy editor and proofreader there is very little published in the last decade either as hard copy or electronically on the Net that is 100% error free. Many publishers are content with a 'good enough' policy and some even admit openly that they are happy if there are fewer than five errors per page. This is exacerbated as many have moved to 'direct to print/camera ready' and/or 'print on demand' policies that presume that the author/s have copy edited and proofed their own work. IMHE very few authors are able to fulfill this role.

On a side note, a family friend has just paid a large amount of money for a 10,000 print run commercial leaflet advertising his business. He did not use a copy editor or proofreader but did it himself to 'save money'. To quote the old adage he, 'sees the cost of everything and understands the value of nothing'. In the 100 or so words of copy there are 17 mistakes, including a misspelling of his company's name. So that's 10,000 leaflets for recycling.

Alex, your good eye for corrections could be put to great use in the Wiki. It's full of typos and anyone can correct them. When I am reading an article and it has typos, I correct them so to help maintain a professional appearance as Kris mentioned.

And BTW, nobody "dislikes" you for doing this. You are an ACTIVE participant in the forums, and that makes you solid gold. I wish more of the lurkers would follow your example.

Having said all that, I like to keep in mind that this forum exists to communicate, and we are a strongly international community, many of whom don't use English as their primary language. I do my best to understand what is being said, regardless of poor spelling or grammar, and in this way we have succeeded in communicating.
