NI have released a unique amp sim which is modelled off Richard Z Kruspe's rig (Rammstein). It only has one purpose so if you're after chicken pluckin' twang, smooth jazz, or hair-metal, move along right now - there's nothing here for you. Richard worked closely with the NI engineers to get the sound right, and if the marketing blurb can be trusted, he uses it at home now for writing instead of cranking up his amp.
I downloaded it a few days ago and I have to say I am absolutely loving the sound it gives me. I gave up on real amps because I have no need of one, so this gives me the sounds I need for industrial music without needing to melt the adjoining walls in my apartment with a real Rect. My only frustration is I have passive pups, standard tuning, and no doubt, lighter strings than Richard uses, so I can't get the sound in the demos but I am 100% happy with my tone given the limitations of my guitar. It can be used in 3 of the Guitar Rig 4 versions: Pro, Essential, or the free player. Check it out here and listen to the demo tracks that Richard recorded: http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/pro...r-rig/rammfire/ -------------------- |

The RAMFIRE presets are part of the Downloadable GUITAR RIG 4 demo which is worth downloading if you haven't tried it. It works for 30 minutes then stops. Also, you can download the FREE Guitar Rig Player 4 which is fully functional and won't quit after 30 minutes but only has one amp preset. You can buy the Ramfire add on for $50 or so. All said and done then, for fifty bux you can have the ramfire presets and not have to buy the full guitar rig software. I've got links to download these demos and the free player in my instructor forum under Free Software/Plugins.
NI have released a unique amp sim which is modelled off Richard Z Kruspe's rig (Rammstein). It only has one purpose so if .. You need to get the right kind of signal in to your DAW to be able to take full advantage of the tones available. I added a "Direct Box" (Behringer rack unit) which converts my line level guitar signal to a Mic Level guitar signal so that my recording interface is getting the signal it is expecting. It fixed all the issues I was having by just going direct in with my guitar cable. Your recording interface may be expecting HI-Z Mic Level Signal, and if you feed it Low-Z Line Level signal, the output won't sound like the demo files. Here is a quick example of a patch in guitar rig 4 after I added the Direct Box in to the chain. It helped TONS. GuitarRigMonsterGain_copy.mp3 ( 1.38MB ) Number of downloads: 332 |

GREAT job todd, i do the same, but instead of a DI i use a small ART tube pre amp, it adds the "feel" to the playing, it's like one more step closer to the real thing, i suggest you try something with tubes man, you WILL notice the difference.

Rammfire is now indispensable to my setup. I run bass, drums and synths through it. Developing a very unique sound with it. This post has been edited by OzRob: Oct 5 2010, 12:45 PM -------------------- |

Now that is a GREAT IDEA! No wonder your tone is so good. Putting a Tube Pre in front of the signal chain is a great way to get warmth, gain, etc. and keep the noise floor low. It's often used on vocals but why not guitar? Now I have to go buy a tube pre-amp. Do you like the ART? Do you have a review on GMC? Todd Richard on Rammfire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApLHCbQ3gnw Rammfire is now indispensable to my setup. I run bass, drums and synths through it. Developing a very unique sound with it. I am a big fan of RAMFIRE as well. It's purpose built for extreme music. If you play anything heavy and want a preset pre-built for good tone/crunch, it's unbeatable for it's price. You can use it with the FREE Kontact player as well! So for less than $100 you can get in to software Amp Modeling/Fx! Todd |
