GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Multi Effect Unit

Posted by: Jimmy764 Oct 9 2009, 05:57 PM

Can somebody help me...
I have something around 110 e and i want to buy some multi effect unit for my electric guitar.
I was thinking something like digitech rp 250. Now my friend told me about korg pandora px5d, and now i dont know what to look at. I would use it for playing at home and recording on computer, nothing professional.

The Pandora is a real nice unit, several of us have the px5 and the px4. The sound quality is very good.

I would also go for Pandora or something like that,
you certainly don't need floor multi effects for home recording and practicing,
RP 250 is floor unt and you'll pay extra for pedal, switches etc.

Totally agree with Muris. Pandora is the best you can get for not so much money

The px4D is cheaper wink.gif I have a Korg AX5G, which is about 80 euros, with floor pedal. You can also check out Line6 Pod, but those are probably more expenisve... for your computer...the best thing would be the Line6 Pod Studio GX, it costs about 80 eros, and then you can use your computer as amp, use several software effects, and all that in a cool interface! check our guitar wiki for more info!

The PX5, unlike the PX4, also acts as a USB audio interface smile.gif . That's one reason why it costs quite a bit more than the PX4.

Yes the usb connection is a plus... and i already have Roland amp. Bad thing is that in Serbia those things are much more expensive than in other countries. THX everyone for fast reply.

I'd recommend a Pod Studio GX, as long as you are going to use it with a computer.

Hmm I think that Digitech RP250 is a pretty good unit for the price. In that price range you don't have many options so it will be good for trying out different effects and to see what you like and later on you can get a more powerful unit or individual pedals for effects you like.

I have an RP 90 -> and I love the thing... I wanna upgrade to RP 355, and to be honest I really like multifx... very convenient to have everything there.. (and later on yeah you can get the specific pedals you like too if you find you're sticking to certain things)

If you want to use it only for home playing and recording POD Studio UX1 is the best choice mate.

(proveri u Artistu da li imaju, trebalo bi da kosta oko 10000 din, mozda manje)

(check in /local shop/ Artist, it should run somewhere around 170$, maybe less)

How about an older Boss GT model?
You could find some cheap GT8s on Ebay. That's what I used on all my GMC lessons...

I agree with David, might be good to search for second hand Boss units. GT8 is a bit expensive here (although that would be perfect!), but ME50 or ME20 can be found at a fairly decent price.
