hey muris,
i asked you in your new lesson (stamina) for good licks to increase speed.
you told me to search for yngwie or paul gilbert. i played already some gilbert stuff (metal dog) and now i tried malmsteen's "far beyond the sun".
i know im not good enough to play this song right now but i can practice some party with guitar pros slow down A-B function! smile.gif

but i got stucked now.
heres the problem:
-16-14-13-----------------------------------------------
------------15-14-12---------------------------------
----------------------- 14-13-11-10---------------------
-------------------------------------- --12-11-9-----------
--------------------------------------------------12-11-9-8
--------------------------------------------------------------
the thing is: how can i play the 14,13,11,10 on g string to the 12,11,9 on the D string? i mean which fingers
do i have to use. i use 14(pinkie),13(ring),11(index)-> slide to 10 and then on the d string i use 12(pinkie),11(third),9(index). See my problem? I mean i can play it this way very fast but i also could play on the d string 12(third),11(middle),9(index)- i dont want to learn it the wrong way and alot of the Yngwie licks are like that so could you help me out please?

I see it totally and I know this lick very well wink.gif

You should play 11th fret with index finger and then slide down to 10th,all alternate of course. smile.gif
Same deal on A string, ending of lick...9th fret with index and slide down to 8th.
Hope this helps!! smile.gif

sry u didnt get my problem i think my english is not that good ;D
i got stucked with my fingering. i dont know how to play this:
-16-14-13-----------------------------------------------(e)
------------15-14-12--------------------------------- (h/b)
here i have the same problem like here:
----------------------- 14-13-11-10---------------------(g)
-------------------------------------- --12-11-9-----------(d)
the thing is that there is this step.. it is not 14-13-11-10
13.......etc.
it is 14-13-11-10
12 !!! etc..
so shall i start the 12 with the ring or the pinkie?
thx!

Maybe Yngwie plays stuff like 12 11 9 with ring, middle and index(it is sort of faster way),
but I think you should use pinky as much as possible.
Comes in handy wink.gif

I would play it with pinky and no sliding. Just use all 4 fingers and start D string with pinky.

sry muris dont get it. why f# minor.. so in this song every string is tuned down 1/2 note. so do you read the fretboard normal or minus a half note?
can it be that there are some notes that dont belong in the f# minor scale?

Yeah,Yngwie usually tunes his guitar down half of tone,1/2.
So it sounds like F minor but position on fretboard is from F# minor. smile.gif

ah yes now i can see the f# minor scale in the song!
hmm do you know why he always plays the f (e- if not tuned down)? because it regularly doesnt belong to the scale box? i mean it has this neoclassical feel in it but is this the general reason to use it?
the played f would be the 7th(dont know if 7th is right in germany its "septime" huh.gif ) compared to the f# sclae, right?
So i could guess that Yngwie uses the 7th, because its a cool neoclassical tool? laugh.gif

That note(it's E# tho,not F) is 7th degree of F# harmonic minor.
Harmonic minor has sharp 7th degree, comparing to natural minor.
You noticed it well,Yngwie plays over harmonic minor almost all the time
and it IS sort of neo-classical "must have" tool. smile.gif
