I think "type" would be better than "level" but it is what it is wink.gif

I think I'm approaching level 3, maybe 2.75.

Just for a bit of fun, what level do you think you are?

Oh, and I want his guitar, getting a bit of GAS rolleyes.gif

Success is not obtained overnight. It comes in instalments; you get a little bit today, a little bit tomorrow until the whole package is given out. The day you procrastinate, you lose that day's success.

I've committed my entire life to playing guitar. It's a big thing to do as ive had to give up everything else. I really struggled to be good at it. I was a terrible player with no natural ability. Several teachers just gave up on me so I had to teach myself and it took years. Some players can become great, and manage to have wives, kids, etc. I've had to focus on guitar to the exclusion of just about everything else. I'm not sure what level he would call me though. I'd sure hope to be a 4 at this point as I've put in my 10,000 hours plus. smile.gif

I also don't consider myself a natural, or to have any talent in music.
For me all I have is just what I learned from practice.

I see that this level ranking is more about how committed you are to playing?

What about the Level of playing on a scale from 1-10, by taking into consideration what level of song you can play?

It's usually hard to rank ones self. Just to be objective, that's what is handy about the REC progrm. It allows things to be a pinch more objective. No such system will be perfect But, playing harder bits, and passing a rec with a harder lesson is a good indication of progress. I don't play a lot of covers to be honest. I'm learning a couple of songs for an audition and it's much harder than I expected. Sometimes learning other folks music can be harder than writing ones own stuff A better indicator might be how much time one has put in to the instrument. A first year player is not going to be the same as a 5 year player or a 10 year player who has played consistently. It gets trick tough when folks have been playing off and on for a long time. One 10 year player may be way different than another 10 year player.
