Found this video on random in Youtube

He's quite good ohmy.gif
Liked when he used that looper effect and kept soloing.

Anyone know this guy ?

I didn't know about this guy. He is good.
But, I noticed that he hold the pick on the flat side wink.gif Our instructors will not be agree with this tongue.gif

Pat Metheny plays with the 'BIG' side of his (thin) pick towards the strings.

I liked that he had one set of tuning pegs facing the opposite direction.

Monica - there are always exceptions smile.gif But...If You're at the beginner level it is good to check the methods used by 90% of guitar players if You see they work smile.gif There is also a video of man playing with his feet. It doesn't mean we have to argue is the playing with our hands best solution tongue.gif

Didn't meet this guy but his Polish smile.gif It's in Katowice. Sad thing is...look at the people...most of them...don't give a f*** :/

It could be that he's angled the pick so that it is facing upwards ? I've seen a lot of people extend their thumb like that and the pick ends up pointing at a similar angle to 'regular' pickers but in the opposite direction smile.gif

He is amazing! His music managed to strike a chord within me! Thank you bunches for posting this Ville!!

That guy is incredible smile.gif

If I ever seen someone that good playing in the street like that I would stop and listen to them until they decided to go home.To many people walking by as if he is not there.

I believe you, I didn't saw nobody playing in that way. You know, seems a little weird smile.gif It's not unconfortable, I mean at fast speed not become an obstacle, can manage in this way a fast playing? You tried from curiosity to make this?

If this video would be at REC, it won't pass...

hahah just kidding! he is an amazing player, and yes, there are always exceptions. We always say that there are many ways to achieve the same thing and that we share the one that works for us, and frequently the one that is most used but there are many exceptions when we talk about technique among guitarist. I specially like the technique chapters in Creative Guitar book by Guthrie Govan where he talks exactly about this, and give many cool examples.

The power of music should be able to make people resonate, but as I too noticed, there are a lot of passers by in the video who do not react in any way... Well, this proves we are getting more and more grey and closed minded by the day, letting our worries cover up our ears. Too bad, as this should be that medicine that takes our worries away, even if it's just for a few minutes.

I have tried to do it before but my thumb doesn't seem long enough to bend back like that. It can be done though but it is weird. I wouldn't be able to keep it like that for rhythm playing and everything else.

Plus, you are already doing a killer job in every aspect with your technique. Why change something which is already working great? wink.gif

Well thank you... I was trying it to see how people did it and if it worked. It does, you can get an angle on the pick facing upwards.. it's very wierd tho !! tongue.gif

But yes, not for me !

This guy moves his head and body about with emotion and conviction...hes not even thinking about who is there and who isn't...he has his mojo. I was entranced by his music...not a fan of his beard though!! laugh.gif

Posted by: Darius Wave Mar 9 2014, 03:29 PM

Yeah he's a mojo biggrin.gif

I agree with Ben's observation - it's usually about the same thing but just different ways to get it smile.gif

I tried it too and it feels VERY weird smile.gif But as Darius says, it's most likely a thing that you can get used to by practicing and mindset.
