Hello GMC! smile.gif
I'd like to buy a new guitar for Christmas, I have atm a Yamaha TG121U running through a Boss ME-25 multieffect and a standard stereo integrated amplifier by Akai, and I'd like to upgrade the guitar with a Floyd Rose guitar...
Seems like my choices came down to 2:
1)Schecter Demon 6 FR Black Satin (Price 369 Euro, down from 429 Euro)
-OR-
2)Ibanez RG350DXZ White (Price 349 Euro, down from 409 Euro)

I play mostly metal (Heavy, Power, Prog, Neoclassic) and looking for a fast, comfortable guitar.
Fact is I wish a white guitar, and while the Ibanez is easily reperible in that colour, the Schecter seems really rare to be found in the vintage white model in my country...
I wanted to know your opinions, if would still be viable to get the white Ibanez or get the Schecter model though with another color.

Also wanted an opinion about a MARSHALL MA50H (Price 298 Euro, down from 469 Euro), if it is a good amplifier to buy togheter with those guitars for the genres I play.
I'm quite new about gear, and i wouldn't like to make mistakes.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Simone.

The 2 choices are both going to be nice. I will say what everyone else will before them! laugh.gif

Go try them both out. They both have very different necks. Ibanez is known for having thin necks, where Schecter is a bit thicker.

As for the amp, I don't know much about it so I checked some videos. As always being a Marshall it's going to be great for that older rock sound, blues, and crunch. If you are looking for metal, you only have to add in a distortion/OD pedal in the front to really take it to the next level.

Thanks for the reply! Fact is, I'm having some health issues at the moment, so I can't go in a store and try them out... I guess for me a thin neck would be better, my Yamaha has quite a thick sensation when you take the neck in hand... Other suggestions are welcome! biggrin.gif

One has to be a bit careful when buying an affordable FR bridge guitar. If playing frequent, those bridges usually last around 3-5 years before they start having problems.

For ibanez, if possible try finding a model that uses the Edge Zero 2 bridge as reviews I read its very solid. I played one and it feels very good too. Can't say much about schecter as though I played and liked a few, I never followed one as how it did on the long run.

If you're using a multi fx unit then I'm sure any amp would give satisfactory tone, it more about what you like. But if you're living in an apartment or can't make much where you'll play don't buy a too big cab. for the amp, like a cab. with 1 12'' speaker can probably be considered as max.

I have a Korean RG350DX and really like it. I did upgrade the Pickups but the original Ibanez INF set isn't too bad. If the one you look at is made in Indonesia just remember that their Quality Control isn't quite as good as the earlier Korean ones. If you can find a 2nd hand Korean one I would recommend it.

MOONKEY is spot on here smile.gif You may want to wait until your health is better if at all possible so that you can play before purchase. It really is worth it to play an instrument BEFORE purchase. I've bought without playing a few times and often regretted it after.

But just for my 2 cents, I'd say GO IBANEZ!! But then again, I"m a HUGE ibanez fan boy so that won't shock anyone here that I suggest the ibanez over the schecter. smile.gif Also, maybe look at the Ibanez 450M which has a very nice Maple neck!! Runs about $300 euro.

I would strongly advise you to go try the guitars once your health allows it smile.gif You will thank your patience, as there's NO ONE who can tell what works for you, aside yourself wink.gif

The Ibanez seems more speed oriented then the Schechter, if you ask me, but then again, I haven't played Schechter but for about 3 times in my whole life laugh.gif So, do go and try them wink.gif

Both are different guitars (the way the sound and feel) but in each case those are well spent money. I had a contact with at least a few pieces of both models and in both it is possible to set up the bridge really well. Ibanez with Z at the end of model name has an additional system to support point zero (like hipshot does)

Thank you all for your feedback! I have chosen the Ibanez RG350DXZ in conjuction with Marshall MA50H, a Marshall Jackhammer JH-1 as distortion pedal and other thingy's like a Yamaha PSR E343 Keyboard, Behringer DI100 Ultra-DI Pro and the GHS Fast Fret for my cool new guitar biggrin.gif I'm really happy now biggrin.gif
Thanks to everyone, you were so kind and fast to answer my doubts, I wish you all the best!
See you!

I own an RG450M, and can attest that it is a solid axe for the money. Don't know about the 350DX though. Personally, I would have found a used 550 if I had know the difference in quality between them when I bought mine. I think you'll enjoy the 350 though. Cheers!

Fine choices! smile.gif Some spiff gear there that should serve you well. Record something and share it with us!

I"ve got that BEHRINGER DI and it's been very handy smile.gif Try it before your amp and use the +20 DB boost switch (each DI channel has it on the front top left).

Here is some info on the guitar for the curious! I plan to add one to my collection at some point smile.gif

Todd, can you use the Palmer Junction DI, instead of the Behringer?

I"ve never used a palmer junction DI, but any DI with a boost would do the trick I"m guessing smile.gif
