GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Schecter Export Omen 6

Posted by: Canis Aug 24 2008, 12:14 AM

I've been looking for a reasonable cheap guitar for a while now. And suddenly, for twenty minutes ago, I found a Schecter Export Omen 6 for $430. Anyone know if that's worth it? I just happen to have money for it, but I don't want to waste half my "fortune" for a low quality guitar.

The problem is that there isn't much specs for it.. They just say that it's a "great guitar" really. I'm buying from a internet store I've had great experience with, just so that's said. It's not a private person who could be selling something wrecked wink.gif

Some pictures: (Edit: Sorry for the random middle picture, they're all one big picture.)

Is this guitar made of basswood body or mahagony ?

Posted by: Canis Aug 24 2008, 12:37 AM

Basswood, I guess. Most Schecter Exports use that.

What would the price range that you can afford? I always recommend not getting a basswood body guitar if you asked me. Price wise, this guitar looks great inside out and I think it is unbeateable happy.gif happy.gif

There are better Schecters out there, get one with at least grover tuners and mahgagony body...

Agree smile.gif

Fair enough, I'll look around a little longer wink.gif
I've played this very guitar in my local music shop though (for $100 more), and it was lovely to play on =) But then again, I'm used to my low-quality Squier Strat tongue.gif

Thanks for the tips =)

yea search around you can get a much better schecter than the omen! But as far as entry level guitars go the Omen blows away alot of other stuff!

why is basswood not as good as mahogany?

I believe it has to do with how much sustain the guitar has....feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. smile.gif

It's a cool guitar. DO you like it, have you tried it?

Posted by: Canis Aug 27 2008, 01:58 PM

I like it, have tried it, and it's in my mail tomorrow tongue.gif

I went back to the music shop again to try it some more before I decided, and I fell in love wub.gif
So, I couldn't help myself, and ordered it ^^

I couldn't afford any more expansive guitar anyway, since this one was on the outer edge of my student budget tongue.gif

Nothing wrong with basswood, have played a few guitars made with that and they have sustained well.
