Of course I'm joking. When have I ever posted anything to even suggest I follow some religion. And using smilies to show I'm joking?! It's much more fun when people aren't sure.

They sent me an e-mail 2 days after the audition saying that something major had changed at the church and that they'd ceased the search for a new guitar player completely.

This thread was mostly tongue-in-cheek. It just seemed a little odd to be applying for a church "job" and not cite any Christian musicians as my favorites.

I totally understand your position man...
Some Christian people can be very "closed minded", swearing by what they call Christian music only.
I never quite understood the concept of "Christian music"...
Christian music has become a style of music which is very sad in my opinion. That's narowing God's music appreciation to a certain style which by the way is often resumed to a few open chords with a repetitive 3 note high pitch lick in the back. Add a few Jesuses in the lyrics and there you have it.

It's sad I think, some Christians settle for less musically...

I agree Dave. You be suprised how many people I go to church with actually don't like a lot of it.
Michael W Smith and Chris Tomlin are the worst. Not what they are singing about but they just can't sing IMO.

There are some good ones though. They are just not the typical worship songs people play.

I'm sorry you didn't get the gig, but who knows maybe they weren't right people for you...I would suggest applying to more auditions in the future, I'm sure you'll find a band that will like your style! smile.gif

Yes, it is a little sad - I think what gets called "Christian Music" should really be called "Praise Music" or something similar - that's what it is, and that is fine, but its not the only type of music that Christians or indeed God should be limited to!

What kind of music do you like?

Christian music.....

What does that even mean?

Christian may describe the meaning behind some of thelyrics but its hardly enough of a descriptor to answer the question.

Thats like, Whats your favorite food?

Meat.

You are right jer, but when we hear the term 'Christian music' we usually think of the music David Wallimann has described in his post.

Christian Black Metal Band sounds strange to me, but I am sure the world is crazy enough fo this laugh.gif
