That sounds bad mate.
Have you gone to the doctor? You should go urgent if you didn't. That's what I always do when I feel something wrong with my fingers or wrist. -------------------- My lessons

That sounds bad mate. Have you gone to the doctor? You should go urgent if you didn't. That's what I always do when I feel something wrong with my fingers or wrist. I strongly agree with Gabe and out of sheer coincidence, I had a conversation with an orthopedic specialist last evening. He told me that the carpal tunnel syndrome happens (in simple terms) when a nerve is caught behind some tendons and it can't get out of there. He also mentioned something about an Electromiography which is meant to be a test which tells you if you have the syndrome for certain. My advice: go see a doc about it as quickly as possible. Internet medicine is not recommended This post has been edited by Cosmin Lupu: May 14 2013, 12:25 PM |

Internet medicine is not recommended Good advice - I will go tomorrow. But I think most doctors will prescribe anti- inflamitories and tell me to lay off for a while before any kind of procedure. I mean strained tendons can take a while (as in months) to heal. It's just the thought of laying off makes me depressed. I guess I'm also wondering how common this is? I'm sure a lot of you bend a lot and apply heavy vibrato daily - does it ever cause you discomfort afterwards? If so have you had to stop playing for a period of time? |

Sorry to hear about this trouble
Are there maybe any light exercises on and off guitar that you could do to help with recovery? Sometimes when my wrist hurts I would just stop playing what I am immediately and make a pause. Its important to stretch before playing for this reason and also to make pauses during long practice sessions. Some people are more prone to these problems then others. Also it is a good warning sign to check if your hands positioning is the most comfortable for you. Hope you recover soon! -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net
