GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Weird German Weight Loss Program !

Posted by: Ben Higgins Sep 21 2012, 09:16 AM

I just stumbled across this article about a health spa in Germany (of course... where else ?) that is advocating a program of drinking alcohol to distract the body from hunger pangs, thus resulting in weight loss. You have to read it to believe it.

Whilst I can understand how it could work, it's not a sustainable method for keeping weight off so the real underlying problem is not being addressed. It's a temporary result rather than a psychological change which is needed. What do you guys think ?

The regime involves a standard calorie restricted diet and exercise, but here’s the twist - dieters get to distract themselves from hunger pangs by getting drunk.

LOL!.... 'but here's the twist'! gotta love that part! yeah, there really isnt any need for 'the twist' if you have the first two parts in place but maybe I can adapt their method for dealing with other things in my life biggrin.gif I have a slight suspicion getting loaded everyday just might make my job a bit less stressful!

We've got this saying in Germany: "3 beers are one meal!" biggrin.gif

In other regions (Bavaria, where else...) they say 7 beers are one meal...

But alcohol is 1 empty calories, 2 slows your metabolism, 3 increases estrogen production which encourages fat storage.

So I can't see it being very successful
