GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Played First Gig!

Posted by: Guitarist16 Dec 6 2008, 05:30 AM

Hey every one,
My band and I just played our first gig, and it went very well. We had three originals and one cover. The only problem was my cable died like 4 seconds in on one song, but i'm thankful it didn't keep it up. We were kind of out of place considering the other bands that played (mostly classic rock cover bands), but the crowd perceived us well and were entertained. So i was pretty proud. Just thought i'd let you know, and the advice helped a lot. In the end you just have to get up there and do it.

Congrats mate... Cable's are known to die from time to time smile.gif Like mine died on stage yesterday night. It's important to keep backup cables near you... Actually it's important to have the backup for every accessory: strings, straps, cables, batteries, picks, even guitars... Just make a habbit of putting them in a unnoticeable place near you, and when times comes they'll be perfect life savers.

Cheers mate. Good luck for your future endeavours wink.gif

Congrats man,it is always hard to play your songs in group gigs where moust of the bands are cover.I suport that action every day,and hope you guys continue to wright your own stuff,it is the only way to make it in this line of work.

Congrats mate. I don't think I've ever had a gig where something hasn't gone wrong. You just gotta deal with every eventuality. My pedal gave up on me last gig but luckily I have a back up of my favourite pedals for gigs smile.gif I fixed the pedal when I had time obviously.

Good for you! The gigs get easier and smoother as time goes by. There will always be technical problems, but the fun of playing live cannot be beat. smile.gif

Yes, Very good advice. And If your a tube amp user. Always have a extra pair of power tubes and a couple of preamp tubes as well.

Well Done!! The first gig is always a memorable one.

laugh.gif laugh.gif I agree, man. I am nervous about using any kind of tube amp without a backup. It's all worth it though. smile.gif

Hey, congrats! biggrin.gif
I'll be waiting for the pics
I agree with enforcer you must carry a backup for every piece of your set so you won't have any problems if something breaks.

That is awesome man, that is what is all about. Share pics if you have them, maybe have someone do some Video Recording next time

Cheers

The whole set was actually recorded so right now we're fixing it up a little bit to put on our myspace. It was also video taped, but more for a learning experience, the video is really not that great of quality or even of a great angle so it probably won't be posted. Today i learned part of our set was on the news last night on a story about local music, so its all pretty exciting.
