After Bugera have got their electronics up to par (for example no more use of quick connections that melts) and now that they present the INFINIUM feature I may concider to get one myself. I'm debating between the 1960 model with the RR patch and master volume or a 1990.
Just waiting for the INFINUM to hit the stores to see what they are priced at.

Couldn't watch your demo right now but I'll try to find the time tonight smile.gif

Very interesting amp for the prize. Hopefully reliability is up to par. You should continue making such videos.

The Bugera 333 is pretty much an exact copy of the Peavey Triple XXX/JSX series of amps. The fact that its a copy of another amp isn't really a bad thing, in fact most amps are copies of other amps. The problem is Bugeras build quality isn't nearly as good as Peaveys, especially Peaveys US built amps. Just a quick browse through the local classifieds on Craigslist will reveal dozens of Peavey amps from the 80's that are still alive and kicking, I can't imagine a Bugera lasting 20+ years.

If I had to choose between a new Bugera 6262 or a used Peavey 6505+, I'd go with the Peavey. If a used Peavey 6505+ is purchased for $600 this year, it can be sold for about the same price next year and many years to come. So your loss on investing in the used Peavey is almost zero. The new Bugera on the other hand will sell for about 3/5 of its price after a year or more, so the loss is more significant. If you purchase a used Bugera, the depreciation is significantly less, but you have to keep in mind you would be purchasing a piece of electrical equipment that has questionable reliability without a warranty.

I must admit though, the Infinium technology on the new Bugeras is an impressive piece of technology, it has really taken tube amp technology to the next level. I think other amp manufactures have done similar things in the past, but not in the mass produced quantities in which Bugera will manufacture them.

I agree in the reasoning on quality and second hand value. As far as I got it the first batch of Bugeras had a lousy build quality. Especially shortcuts in a couple of places where they used a plastic clip instead of soldering. And this clip melted causing a shortcut or a blown output transformer. I recall Ivan posted a picture of a Bugera’s inside here once.
From what I gather they have improved a lot since then and who knows, this latest Infinium batch might hold up for ages… or they implemented new technology that can break. Still a bit of a gamble, right? At least to me, but for the money you pay the loss would be bearable.

About the tube technology Hughes and Kettner did this and called it TSC (Tube Safety Control) and Orange introduced what they call DIVO which I don’t know what it stands for. It’s the same deal. No need for matched tubes, self biasing and you can mix different sorts of tubes.

This new batch could very well be reliable, time will tell biggrin.gif I'm just curious if the quality of the individual components inside the amp are built for the long run.

On a side not you should check out the new Triple XXX II, its pretty killer. From my understanding the new Triple XXX II is different from the old one, because the 3120 is the old Triple XXX. In fact I heard since Joe Satriani left Peavey, Peavey just repackaged the JSX as the new Triple XXX II.

Very cool, for a tube amp of this wattage and price, it's certainly something to think about! smile.gif
