It is currently 115 degrees F, and too flippin hot to go outside so I will just play guitar! This is a great site and I hope to learn a lot. I am an intermediate player who can play Pentatonic solos as good as anyone and that is about it. I am ready to take my playing to a higher level. I am probably one of the older players in here at age 41 but I can hang with any of you! ;-)

It is great to see people from all over the world in this forum so maybe we can hook up sometime since I travel to Europe occasionally for my job. I am an IT Director for a fortune 500 company and I play guitar weekly in my church praise band.

Always liked Arizona. Used to go to Scottsdale for business years ago, also in IT. Would run up Camelback every day for fun. Great place for active people, bike lanes on road, things like that. Sort of like Colorado in that respect. Kansas is hot also, pushes 100 all July and August. Was up to near 110 last year, not this year yet though. After about 95, what does it matter? Dry heat, just need to wear a hat and carry water. My dog has a cool vest, that helps a lot. I wet him down a lot, and pour water in in mouth (he does not want to drink as much as he should). That is his picture, using one of my night vision scopes. It is an alpha grade scope, no infrared illumination (you can tell because no glare in the eyes). Total dark, could not see him at all without the scope. Have not been out west since i got the scopes, really would like to do some night hiking in the desert. Would certainly carry my grizzly bear mace with me, we even have a few cougars in Kansas, saw on once while night hiking. BTW, half the people here are in tech, the other half in the food service industry.

I won't be seeing 40 ever again either. My wife says that some men buy a Harley, some take up dangerous sports, some have an affair but I opted for the guitar for my mid-life crisis - she thinks it was the best of a bad set of options .

Thanks for the nice welcome! I am working on Iron Maiden Solo and No Upstrokes - Very cool!

Someone asked how many years I had been playing and I have to quote something that I read yesterday that said, "it does not matter how many years, it is how many hours". I played in bands at age 16-21 and then lost interest after a stint in the Air Force but then picked it up again last year. I am back to about where I was when I quit so I am ready to learn something new. I bought some really expensive gear so I would feel guilty if I did not practice - it works!

I am working on original stuff and my creativity is further along than my ability to play it so that is also motivating. I am using a Riffworks add-on to my Line6 POD for recording that is just amazing and easy to use. Drum tracks are real samples instead of having to program a drum machine so they sound great. It is very easy to capture ideas quickly and make them sound good. Highly recommended!

tonymiro - my wife claims I am in continual mid-life crisis but I still think I have one coming to me!
