Well I decided to make this thread to give more credit to guitarists who deserve it but don't get it.
Post your thoughts.

I'll start.

Andy La Rocque and Mike Wead of King Diamond! They kick so much a$$.

EXCELLENT guitar player, banjo player and songwriter from Norway!

I think I also should mention Johnny Winter and John Fogerty. I'm not sure if I should call them underrated, but I have barely ever seen them being mentioned at GMC.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-8siLZ4zNbY - Johnny Winter

http://youtube.com/watch?v=u3jwhuxVcik - John Fogerty(Creedence Clearwater Revival, guitarist and vocalist)

Well I've said it before but Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac deserves a lot more credit IMHO.

I'd also like to mention Rob Baker and Paul Langlois of the band The Tragically Hip. Amazing band! And two great guitarists.

@Robin: John Fogerty rocks man and so does Winter.

Steve Rothery of Marillion. He's not flashy, but rivals Dave Gilmour for sheer emotion and excellent composition skills. Try the albums "Brave" and "Marbles" for a few examples.

yeah, he also auditioned for Megadeth when he was 16. But like you said one time, to find the good stuff, you gotta search very deep beyond what the media offers.

Only reason Dave turned him down was because his age.He is an amazing guitarist .He started out learning Ywngie and stuff and basically mastered it around 14.

Yeah Jeff Loomis is an amazing player, so is Steve Smith from Nevermore.

A few more are...

Dave Meniketti
Santana (In my opinion)
Neil Zaza
Guthrie Govan
Alex Lifeson
Alex Skolnick
Michael Amott
Malcom Young
Frank Zappa
Leslie West
Vinnie Moore
Jeff Beck (Definitely doesn't get the credit he deserves) (One of the best ever)
John Sykes
Pete Townshend
Joe Perry
Glenn Tipton & K.K. Downing
