Could it be possible that anything could be better than an Kemper? Better than an AXE FX? Better than BIAS 2? I think so. This is a complete vid about Overloud THU. It's one of the better vids I've seen and goes in to some detail on all the features that make it so good. It remains my fave plugin and it does work great going right out of my little HOTONE JOGG pedal based interface in to my mojo Diamond Micro head in to a 4x12 cab.

I saw a guy using a macbook pro on his pedalbaord so he could use Nueral DSP. I think I get it now smile.gif I'd use my macbook on my loaptop in order to get the pure beefy and tone brilliance of overloud on to my pedal board. Though I'd use my Macbook air and not my macbkkoo pro. I've tried it ands even with only an i dual core 8 gb ram it's fast enough to have zero audio lab and run the full logic session with not even a hint of lag. To wit! Anyone else tried this?
Attached Image

It's all possible because of the HOTONE AUDIO "JOGG" pedal. Wads of processing power in this. Logic X set to block sie of 32 with no skipping/latency/or artifacts.

Anyone else trying this with Helix Native or something?

Todd

I remember the cpu usage being extremely low while still sounding comparable to other options. Sound is relative to users but that is an impressive plus for THD.

And it is a smart move for them to release that rig manager which samples amps just like a Kemper (only companies can sample not users, which is also a smart move to avoid junk presets). Cause people for a while now don't want an ocean of options, but something which works quick for the job.

I'm half ok with the market gearing towards mix ready software like Neural does. One picks a suit and without much knowledge gets an album ready sound is cool. On the other hand the organic aspect of tone is being lost, like depending on the project not everyone wants to flatten the guitar sound...

As trends go it could be far worse I'd say. I like that folks are putting gear that can do heavy lifting on a board. not just a phone or tablet but a full laptop so it can run really dense plugins with lots of DSP like THU and NEURAL.

It seems a bit bulky, but it won't be long until mobile devices have quad and 8 core chips tat are i7 spec and better. Brave new world smile.gif

For stage it can be risky.

Elektronica guys often place their computers on a table or somewhere near keyboards. With guitar you'll never know what happens right infront of you, someone might spill beer or a bra might land on the computer biggrin.gif So rack-mount or if floor processor often the better stuff is designed durable.

If you specially like TH-U tones you can check the DV-Mark options as to my knowledge they barrow their software from overloud.

I don't know what computer he's using but it does look laggy when he's scrolling, is this normal for that software?

I don't think so, but usually such vid.s are made from first version software so that might be related.

Here something interesting about the rig player; some profiles of this amp is sampled with an OD pedal (writes in the preset name) yet thanks to digital he can still add an OD when shaping tones.

Overloud work directly with DV Mark ( A boutique amp company) to get the tones as close as possible to real, boutique, high end, hand made tube amps. These tones are also hardwired in the DV Mark rack processor.

You can do that right now my friend smile.gif I made a video using the amazing little TONE SHIFTER S pedal which is a interface to your phone to run guitar sims on your iphone and it has foot switches. There is no perceptible lag and you can run Amplitube on your phone. Makes a great fly rig smile.gif

Here is the tone shifter running in to my iphone 6s switching patches in real time.

Using the Tone Shifter 3s with a few tones patched together quickly.

Did you ever try comparing phone to computer plug-in? I ask cause an amplitube engineer years ago admitted the phone versions were designed lighter to work so not sound as good. Would be a good youtube vid. for your channel record and comparing them.

Of course smile.gif I compared it to my TH2 setup at the time and my "chugg" tone with the mesa on the phone sounded just about the same as my "chugg" tone with the mesa on TH2. They were shockingly similar. It's a good idea for a side by side vid! I thought the tone from the vids with the phone spoke for itself though which is why I didn't do a side by side. I paid for the MESA add on to the phone version of amplitube and that was the secret sauce. The other stock amps were sorta crap imho for high gain. But for $5, you can get the Boogie and put a tube screamer in front of it and bam, your phone sounds about as good as anything else. I trust my ears, and I thought it sounded great.

I've just downloaded TH-U and I'm blown away. I might keep my Helix LT, and buy TH-U and skip buying Native.

It RAWWWWWWWWKKKKKKKSSSSSSSSS it just sounds more "live" than Helix, like when you get chance to sit in on a sound check. Brilliant, only got the trial and only used the 10 minute demo. I'll keep using the 10 minute demo to try the presets then once that's out of my system I'll switch on the 15 day trial am then I'll buy it. Got the buffer down to 16 and it worked fine.

It as works as a standalone product as well as a VST inside Reaper. ACE!!!!!!!!!

Keep in mind there are 2-3 noticeably lower priced versions like the "rock"; https://overloud.com/products/th-u-rock

They include the rig player, so after that you can collect sampled amp presets just like those who buy presets for Kemper.

Thank you Mertay,

I do like having the entire ensemble though. I always say it's bet to have it and not need it than need it and not have it wink.gif

Cheers

BINGO!! It is HANDS DOWN the best Native Plugin I've ever tried Period, end of of story and I've tried them ALL. NONE of them honestly come close IMHO. Again, just my thoughts. Some folks LOVE Helix Native, some folks LOVE Joey Sturgis Tones, and God Bless em!! Some folks LOVE Neural, it takes all kinds!!

If you want one plugin that does it all? Without having to stack 4 different free plugins together to get a decent tone? External IR? Full rigs just like a KEMPER does? Killer FX as many as you want in any order you want? Two signal pathes? Yup. TH-U is the KING BABY!!! Welcome to the club smile.gif

Here is the link that compares the starter version to the big version. The starter version sounds killer as it's the same core technology. It's just missing a lot of bits. Like the big version has 93 amps, the starter has 16. If budget is a concern, getting the starter is still a great buy. There is no better deal on the market for that price IMHO. Nothing else sounds that good for that little money. If you can buy the big one, your options are nearly limitless.

https://overloud.com/node/210/compare

Of all the plugins I've tried, TH-U is the one I use every single time I record. It sounds like a real amp, sitting in a nice big recording room, with really nice mics and nice guitar cabs that you have full control over. You can grab one of the 1000 presets or just use one of mine, or just make one yourself! smile.gif It's got the ability to cut right through a mix and provide great detail on each note which is why I use it on every solo.
