A lot of the things I believe about soloing, Satch says here in this video better than I can..

For example, it's all good to be able to put nice, neat little licks exactly in line, correct number of notes to a beat etc - but you have to know how to break out of that and flow. If you listen to Joe's legato lines on his most famous tracks - how much of that is sliding all over the beat. Imagine trying to tab that out !?! Like he says in the video, most famous solos he can think of had this flow.. the type of thing you can't tab out 100% because it's about feel.

You can also see him talk about bending the bluesy bends.. not quite a full maj3rd or min3rd. It's like a cool bend that's somewhere between the two and full of attitude.

Pick articulation. Sometimes it's just really satisfying to hear a perfectly picked run like MAB etc.. but if everything is like that then it sounds too uniform.. Joe says it better so watch the vid ! cool.gif

Good point Ben smile.gif I know what You both mean smile.gif Lesson level 11 - a lesson where You can't make a tabs smile.gif Because of those moments sometimes other people (the one making tabs) had to use some weird rhythms like 5ths or 7ths..instead of popualr triples and regular values. I cought myself using 9ths when making some tapping licks - fitting 1st 4th and 7th notes (tapped ones) as a one triplet.

It looked so easy...as far as I started to make some tabs...then I had to name it. But...it was the easy one anyway. Sometimes it's like...impossible biggrin.gif Example - playing some iregular fast lick when You only know when exactly to start and when to end....but between...ha ha biggrin.gif

Great video..thanks for sharing. I like the 'less disciplined' feel/sound..the 'dirty'. Probably why I prefer Iommi and Hendrix solos. cool.gif

This is a very good video. It's awesome how much you can learn just by hearing what the masters have to say. In this very short video he gave very important tips about composing, phrasing, bending, dynamics and another even more important thing "inspiration".

Thanks for this video Ben! smile.gif
