Holy crap batman! Thats a neat party trick!
Posted by: Spiderusalem Nov 10 2007, 08:26 PM
I think this is hard evidence which proves that Paul Gilbert may indeed be the devil.
Posted by: Spiderusalem Nov 10 2007, 08:31 PM

oh jeeze. ok
I'm thinking he either fakes it and just hammers on those notes (lord knows he can do that np)
or he's actually doing it, and maybe using his tongue?
Posted by: mattacuk Nov 10 2007, 08:40 PM
I cant imagine paul the type to ever fake anything !

Looks like he's playing the whole part from some sort of recorder can't believe...
Posted by: Pavel Nov 10 2007, 09:18 PM
The thing is - they never show it from his side of guitar so you can't see what he is actually doing. The same thing goes for Vai, he's playing that "tongue" slides but in fact what he does is use his Whammy Pedal to do that sound - he said it himself. It's just for the show - it has nothing to do with actual playing.

Yeah.plus Vai hits the small switch to add custom sustainer so the note lasts an eternity...
Another trick and to be honest,I don't like this from players like Vai or Gilbert.
Of course there are people in the crowd waiting for the magic but...music is the magic.
Posted by: The Uncreator Nov 10 2007, 09:55 PM
Its all just for a good show, no harm done to anyone, and you get to see Vai lick guitar strings and shred, whats can be better? ")
Posted by: Juan M. Valero Nov 10 2007, 10:11 PM
It's incredible !!! hehehe, I supose he uses his tongue (I try to use my teeth but it's imposible XD) but I'm very surprise because his sound is clean and prefect...
I love those tricks
Posted by: botoxfox Nov 10 2007, 10:19 PM
Think I read somewhere that he said it was a trick.
Posted by: Wallimann Nov 10 2007, 10:25 PM
It's definitally a tricx. He's just jocking. He even asks his friend to press the button of his loop pedal. He recorded the lick before on his pedal...

Well paul is definatly a joker! still, everyone looks like there haveing alot of fun!!
Posted by: Juan M. Valero Nov 10 2007, 10:29 PM
hehe, I use a similar trick with my GT8 hehe, there is an efect called AUTORIFF, you write the scale and only playing a note the pedal gives you the melody

Absolutely Mat,no doubt about that!
I just wanted to say that player like Paul doesn't have to do that at all,
his playing is too great and awesome without any tricks,imho...
Posted by: Fsgdjv Nov 10 2007, 11:53 PM
It looks amusing, and even though he's that good, why wouldn't he be allowed to have some fun?
It looks awesome though.

Haha!
That thing is so fun to mess around with! I spent probably about an hour or two playing with it once I found it! It sounds pretty fake, though... but sometime, I want to go out and play somewhere with that just to mess with people!

(* Wow, me a grand high theory elf - wow *)
But if Muris is an evil theory Orc, does that mean we have to fight against each other? I wouldn't like that

I think you need it written beneath you avatar "Grand High Theory Elf & Moderator"
Muris, I would be happy to make you into an Orc, but you will have to do it as i cannot make it your house by the end of the day
PS Everyone, has anyone noticed how GMC is starting to feel like the Lord of the Rings recently?

QUOTE (Muris @ Nov 17 2007, 03:20 PM)
No fight between us Andrew.
But it guess we could fight together.
Let's say I betrayed my master and I want revenge now.
So we fight my master,he's Suaron...and Sauron is...J.Y.M. Harmonic Lord
Yes! Lets take the fight to YJM together my brother in arms! We will use cunning tritones, and pentatonic substitutions to humiliate him! (But watch out for his Locrian!)
Posted by: mattacuk Nov 17 2007, 09:32 PM
QUOTE (Muris @ Nov 17 2007, 08:24 PM)
His Locrian is pure mate,no worries.
He thinks he's playing Locrian, but he's still only poor Harmonic Lord.
May the Mode be with us!!
EDIT: sorry for joking on the thread Matt, will stop.
Andrew, now cut our replies and paste them into new thread I'm gonna
make called "The End Of Harmonic Lord".
No worries my good friend...It is pretty funny!
Probably a good idea to start a thread on this lines though

And Murris, I think the whole smashing things with your head is a good way on becoming an orc. Or just proving you already are one. And remember, no showers!! A real rockstar get chicks anyway, so hopefully it won´t affect you that much.
