Sorry, I know there are a lot of drum threads going, but I couldn't find one that had the info I needed.

So I'm getting started with recording, I got a Toneport UX2 on the way, and I think I'm going to use the sequencing software that comes with it(can't remember what it is).

Now I want to make backing tracks, and backing tracks without drums are well...not backing tracks. laugh.gif
So I downloaded the trial for beatcraft to check it out, but I had some problems with it, I dunno if it was just the demo version, but I had to program every drum hit and make the beats myself, and I'm no drummer. So it turned out pretty bad.

So I'm wondering if there are any programs that have beats, and fills already in it, so I can just kinda fit them together instead of programing in every note. I don't really want to pay more than $200.

Much thanks!

Two popular choices are;
EZ drummer
Addictive drums

listen to sound clips from the respective sort and pick the one you like the most. I've never used Addictive drums but EZ drummer is just
- listen to lots of patches and select the drums you like
- paste it into your sequences

but I suppose addictive drums work the exact same way.

You can add fills etc. Really simple for us who don't know squat about drumming.

Edit: Typo.

yeah, EZ is a great software, specially with the Drumkits from hell biggrin.gif
BTW there are lot of good VST like Addictive, BFD or Battery...

well, when I started to record my own music I used a free demo samples called Natural Studio... I don't know if there are still available, but you would need another program to work with this samples (FL Studio, Cubase, ProTools, Nuendo, etc)

EZDrummer and Addictive drums are the best for small home studio projects imho.

I just wish some programmer guy out there would make a more innovative interface for the drum software though. Don't get me wrong i like EZ drummer. But when your looking for a specific beat that EZ drummer doesnt have it can be very time consuming punching in all the notes 1 at a time on the piano roll.

Or even tabbing out the drum line in Guitar pro and exporting it via midi to your DAW.

I wish there was some kind of virtual drummer that you could set parameters like time signature etc...and create random loops based on what you set up in the menus.

Working with loops is ok....but it never replaces a real drummer I totally suck at doing drums and have no sense of timing when it comes to percussion when playing with EZ drummer i feel like that guy who types using hunt and peck method.

Maybe someday someone will make an intuitive interface that makes sense for dopes like me.

Daniel
