love my fender but the screw on the saddle is sharp on the low E and when palm muting its kind of anoying. its not like it hurts and i can deal with it, but should i file it or something? has anyone else found this to be annoying as i do

I just looked at my Strats and they both have tremelos like in the link below. The screw placement doesn't interfer with palm muting at all.. Maybe it is possible to fit one on your strat? These vintage tremelo goes for about $100 new.

thanks before i think id rather replace the saddles instead of doing the tremlo. i think im gonna take a trip to the shop and see if they got part or maybe order it. i even thought of replacing it with block saddles, but i like the way the vintage saddles look.

Very common issue.
File down the offending set screws from the bottom so as not to interfere with the ability to adjust the height.
You just need them short enough to barely stick out over the top of the saddle. *Make sure the height of the string (the action) is where you want it. Also take some fine grit 'metal' sand paper (the black stuff) and smooth out the rough top edge.

thought that might be the answer, ill give that a shot, i found some replacment parts online ill order those to in case i mess it up. thanks for the help

I had similar problems with those synchronized tremolos. Fortunately my friend had some screws that fit the saddles and those were shorter than originals. If I had no access to shorter screws I would probably do exactly what Ken suggested - file down the screws from the bottom side

ME Too!!!!!!! I know this will not find favor with our Strat Faithful, but I DESPISE that style of bridge given that I palm mute A TON of stuff and have actually drawn blood from over muting on that style of bridge when I had it on my ESP 8 string.

Trying to mute 8 strings is tough. You end up using more pressure. I cut my hand to shreds. I had to clean the bridge with hydrogen peroxide and then sold the guitar.

The BAD news is the IBANEZ RG8 has nearly the same bridge arg!!!

A SOLUTION:
What I did on my RG8 was rise the saddles so that the top if flush with the screws as much as possible. Then I had to adjust the neck/truss/shim the neck joint/etc to work around it.

For folks that play with the hand on the bridge, these strat bridges can be an injury waiting to happen. Some folks LOVE them. I'm just not one of those folks.

I know what You mean but sometimes the place of this knob is ok...for example while playing Jeff Beck style Or...if You use that knob often like when playing some blues
