Well thanks! The good news is that there is no correct way to use the whammy bar to be honest. As long as it sounds good, then you are doing it right Some folks use it for vibrato, some folks (like me) use it for dive bombs. It comes down to you and what you want to get from the whammy.
Here is a vid of me doing some harmonic dive bombs (ala Dimebag). It's a close angle so you can see my whammy technique I'm using a indonesian Rick Hanes guitar with cheap duncan designed pickups. So this technique should work on even very cheap guitars. Just pull off with your right hand and touch a natural harmonic (5th/7th/10th fret etc.) and whammy!
What do you want to do with the whammy? Anything specific or certain things you'd like to see a demo of?

Cool Take a close look at this video then. It shows a close up of dive bombing. The description on the youtube page gives step by step instructions too. Here they are
STEP 1: "Flick" (hammer/pull) the G string STEP 2: DIVE the whammy bar STEP 3: Lightly touch the fret on a natural harmonic (5th, 7th, etc.) STEP 4: Whammy to taste
