Here's how much you'd have to pay to hire any of these bands back in 1969. Love Sculpture(?) could demand twice as much as Deep Purple smile.gif.

Interestingly 'Fleetwood Mac' commanded the highest price (£500) then and continued to be a top grosser for the next 30 years.

Very interesting.

1969 was the Woodstock-year. I see Jimi is not on the list (what a shame). Woodstock festival was from august 15 to 18. On june 24 he must have been rocking the roof off elsewhere smile.gif cool.gif

Indeed a low fee for Deep Purple, but the band started in 1968 and had some problems getting the right members (they first had a different name too : Roundabout). After releasing some covers, they managed to make 2 albums, still in 1968. The second one "The Book Of Taliesyne" was their breakthrough. But at the date of this document, they where still a " small" band.

Success is not obtained overnight. It comes in instalments; you get a little bit today, a little bit tomorrow until the whole package is given out. The day you procrastinate, you lose that day's success.

seems like it must have been as hard then to pick a name for a band as it is now
