I believe you're missing option "depends on day",

Used to be at least an 1-2 hrs a day, just lately I`ve been putting a lot more time into it, prob 2-3 & 3-4 hours, but yes also depends on the day. smile.gif

It really depends on the day, but I try to get 2-3 hours.

Posted by: Fabian Schulz Nov 12 2007, 10:01 PM

now that I have to go to school again I try to play about 5 hours a day.

I want to have holydays again sad.gif

I must admit - 2-3 hours is top i can dedicate to guitar these days. University is pushing it to the edge with all the homework and stuff to be done, and i am also rearranging my room so it is more comfortable to work with the video recording. Yesterday i hit the store to get some decent light setup and all i saw was "Inventory" (i hope it's the right word in English) on the door - GRRRR. Today i got some halogen lights to make my videos even better and right now i have to hit the JAVA DEVELOPER to do the homework for tomorrow. I guess there will be no guitar at all for today sad.gif

I know what you mean, about these days not being able to dedicate guitar. I really havent sat down, and did a great practice, in about a month. sad.gif

I'm currently back in the practicing bug, (with lots of support from my Mrs smile.gif ). I'm getting up at 5 and doing 2 hours before work, then 2-3 hours in the evening (amidst putting kids to bed, etc), and at the weekend, 10 hours on a Saturday, and 10 on a Sunday (5-10 am, then usually 1-6pm or 3-8pm).

So weekdays, around 4 hours, and 10 at weekends.

I've got to admit that it's not easy on top of a 40 hour week, but it is worth it, and it keeps me out of trouble... and the pub!! tongue.gif

i try to keep it a minimum of 4-5 hours, although there are times that i get to practice 6+ hours, and other times i dont get to practice anything

Posted by: Lurgen Nov 16 2007, 02:01 PM

I try to make sure I get an hour or two in each day, but to be honest once in a while three or four days can pass where I don't even pick up a guitar. I work full-time (and then some), so it isn't possible to maintain a serious practice schedule.

I kinda remember a thread like this back when I first found this site, where one or two people were practicing for 8 hours+ each day. That'd drive me insane, even 3 hours in a single day of practice feels like too much for my taste. Takes it from a hobby and turns it into a job.

Mind you, when I pick up a new song and try to learn it from scratch that seems to bump up my practice time a little too.

I've got band practice two days a week so on those days I play a lot, less so other days. I guess if you average it out it's about 1½ hour every day.

Posted by: stratman33 Nov 17 2007, 07:18 AM

im only averaging about 30 minutes a day sad.gif because of my schoolwork and sports and hanging out with friends.

Posted by: Milenkovic Ivan Nov 21 2007, 03:58 PM

2h of clean technique practise, average

Posted by: Gerald Nov 21 2007, 04:11 PM

I get 30min to 1hr usually. With a house, dog, girlfriend, going to the gym, FT job, roommate and sleep it's hard to find time. sad.gif

I wish I would have stuck with guitar when I was younger. To all the young GMC folks; stick with it! You'll be happy you did when your 28 or older shreading like mad. ;-)

NOw it's difficult for me to get more than 2 hours but I use to play more than 4 hours every day.

Posted by: Zephyr Nov 22 2007, 08:58 AM

Anywhere from 25 to 73 1/2 hours a day. Depends on my schedule.

laugh.gif But really, probably about 3 to 5 hours. It varies a lot depending on what I'm doing, but on an average day, probably about 4 hours.

Yes, the word is definitely 'inventory'. Inventory counts and verifications are very common in most organizations, especially manufacturing. We don't typically feel the pain of not being able to purchase something due to 'inventory' at retail stores in the U.S. If store hours are for instance 9am - 10pm, then they would take care of all the counting after business hours to 1. Not upset the customer, since I think it is poor customer service not to be open during regular business hours. and 2. To not lose revenue.

Inventory certainly needs to be performed regularly to make sure of what you think you have on hand is accurate, but it should not done at the expense of the customer. Sorry you had to go through that! I would have been extremely upset if I had made a special trip for something specific and the store was closed.

Oh, I hope you didn't hit the Java Developer too hard, you never know when you will need it again wink.gif laugh.gif

My "effective practice time" is about 2 hours a day.
