Posted by: johnb714 Nov 18 2009, 06:44 AM

Muris,
hello.....i am new to playing and i was listening to this perticular lesson and i really liked the tone of the lead solo
i have a pod xt pro (red face)
is this something that you use to create your tones.....if so would you have a good patch for this solo sound
or normally what do you use to achieve this sound (pedals, settings, etc)
im sure this is very basic to you......but new to me, so any help would be appreciated

there is a song by rush called "big money" do you know how this clean, reverb (i presume) or delay is used to obtain this.
i have become very fixated on tone settings lately.

is it reverb that gives it the haunting tone or is it acheived thru delay

hope you can help

thanks
john

Hi John.

For Diminished 7 Workout lesson Lead tone I used Korg Pandora PX4D,
I never had any Pod or Line6 unit so it's hard to tell what do you have to do
on Pod to get similar tone cause each brand has different settings, parameters and components,
you just must spend some times tweaking it until you get what you want.
In short line, what I used there was distortion, a bit of delay and small amount of chorus,
chorus is only a matter of personal preferences, you don't have to put it if you don't like it.
I would rather suggest you to ask in forum for some cool Pod patches from other members,
many people on GMC use Pods. smile.gif

Big Money clean tone, I guess you think middle section when Alex is playing harmonics?
I believe it's reverb that has major role to ambience eventho there's some delay included as well.
