I watch this every time I feel down about my playing, it lifts my spirits. Danny Roffe managed get an amazing tone from relatively average equipment - a Vox Tonelab and an Alesis Quadraverb. He also uses a DiMarzio Pro 54 noiseless single coil. This is equipment tone snobs will turn their noses up to in dismissal. Im trying my best Im considering adding a couple of tone city overdrive pedals in with the pod to see how it sounds. It has a few compressors in the pod - Tube Comp Red Comp Blue Comp Vetta Comp Boost Comp might be one more, cant remember offhand. It had the same exact set of compressors. I liked the boost comp and tube comp but they all did the job Here is a quick tone test I did with the VETTA using some high/low gain bits. It did a great job on Dimebag type tones but I couldn't get it to tighten up without using a actual stomp box overdrive for boost and then pulling back the gain on the amp sim. I"ve owned the Vetta and the Pod XT so I've been able to get somewhat familiar with their internal options. If I remember correctly, the vetta had a graphic eq with sliders though which is a bit different and the XT used the older EDIT software which was a bit different than the HD edit. Both of mine were previous gen units and the HD series is the generation after. Now they are on to yet another generation of algorithms with the HELIX. I did notice that many of the bits from the Vetta/XT seem to be still part of the HD in terms of what they are called, like the list of compressors. I wonder if it will stay the same on the helix? It's an ancient cab with the original Jaguar speakers in it (the ones DIME used waaay back when). I did another vid with it in the FX LOOP of my 11 rack. Turned off the amp section in the 11 and just used the cam sim. I was pretty shocked how well it worked.
