Yet another punishing blow to my signal chain. My kid knocked a whole glass of water on my computer and it wiped everything. Now I'm left with this damned digitech pedalboard. It has a memory card and can record but I can't do anything with it. For the next few months I'll be flying high with my metronome until I can get a new computer "hopefully". I do believe I can hook my iPhone into the input if my board so I could play stuff on this site too. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise

There'sa slim chance that the mobo isn't fried but is just shorting a bit with moisture forming a bridge. If that's the case you may be able to salvage it.

Thi is a a bit of a last resort Jim but it may work (only do it if it's our last option).

If you can open the clam shell case* on the macbook let the inside dry in open air with it switched off for at last 24 hours. If you have any silica crystals that can help as well (silica crystals are the ones that sometimes come with electronic devices to keep out mosture. They're blue when dry and go purple when wet.). Don't try heating the macbook up to aid drying.

If it doesn't work you may want to salvage the hard disc whilst you've got it open.

* This is will probably void any Apple warranty so it's a bit of a last resort solution.

Thanks man I think I'll have to try it. First I need a very tiny Phillips. I'm not holding my breath though it was soaked.

My pedalboard setup has a shocking quality. Have you ever sung into a hot mic and it zaps your lips? That's how my inner wrist feels when I play my guitar now. Well I guess it keeps me slacking off. Lol

Do you have an APPLE store anywhere near you? They can give you a quick idea of the damage. Also, I'd suggest one of these

Yeah I actually had one on. The water went through the FireWire USB side.

This is the second computer he's drowned. It's my fault for having water near it anyway. I'll be taking it to Apple soon.

Hey Todd I'm not sure if you saw my comment about my current setup but my guitar is now electrified for some reason. I get a stinging burn on my picking hands wrist as it touches the strings. I'm thinking disconnecting everything and start with pedal board adding as I go. Hopefully it's not the board cause then I'll be playing an electric guitar plugged into my butt. Haha

EGAD!!!!!!!

Ouch. That's a tough one. Water inside the ports to the board. Even with applecare, they get pickup if they find somebody poured something in it. Hoping for the best!! Maybe a laptop riser like djs use would help just to get it off the desk level?

ELECTRIFIED GUITAR!! Double ouch! Sounds like a grounding issue. Reduce your rig to axe/cable/amp and see if you still get it. If not, add bits in til you find the culprit.

ups, I'm sorry of reading this mate. I hope that you can send it to the service and they find a quick, cheap solution. Is it the only computer you have at home?

Electrified guitar? that's weird, are you using your digitech and also an amp?

Thanks man. Seems maybe one of my stomp box pedal jumper wires were shorting under my amp. Guitar-tube screamer-bbe maximizer-digitech gnx4-headphones.

I do have a ditto looper and it has a USB port. I'm thinking I can record with that and use my wife's computer to transfer the file to my phone. She won't let me put recording software on hers, she says ill junk it all up.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how I'm going to make a video with good quality audio with my current setup. For now I've been making good progress with my preset metronome beats.

I hope so too. We're saving for vacation so my computer is simmering on the back burner. I am however practicing a ton more than I ever have so I think this period without one might be very beneficial.

So today I get a call from the shop who looked at my computer stating the computer suffered no damage and works fine. Beyond confused...... She seems to work just fine. So needless to say I am happy.

So true. The day is coming soon and hopefully sooner than later. After vacation I'm planning to make the jump.

That's good!

The trouble is the littlest one... He like sticking things in electrical sockets. Walking around like a meatball on steroids smashing the place.
