Pod Farm 2, on Toshiba NB305

Just thought I'd share this with everyone;

I was looking for a solution to a) not having to lug a massive amp head + 2x12" cabinet to practices/gigs and cool.gif getting a better sound at practice/live (especially for small venues).

So here's what I did; Toshiba nb305 netbook + line6 pod farm 2 with UX2 interface + line6 shortboard MKII == Aweeeesome.

You have to set the buffer size reasonably high to get it to work flawlessly, but tbh I don't even notice the latency, and you can get such a clear tone from it at low volume and at high volume, and it weighs next to nothing. You have to take the UX2 as well, but still, a lot smaller/lighter than an amp!

Obviously, you need a PA to run it into, but if your practice room has one then it's fine. I also just then monitor myself with headphones so I can hear myself properly.

Been using it at practices, and it works brilliantly.

true, but then I've had just as much trouble with real amplifiers in the past, so it can't be any worse hehe. So far it's actually been really reliable. It's running win7 home (i upgraded from starter that it came with) and it hasn't crashed or anything at all. Used it for several hours during a few practice sessions and there were no problems at all. I guess you'd just have to be careful to keep your machine clean of applications that you dont need that might cause performance to drop or clash with the pod farm software in some way.

Just so suprised it runs so well on a little netbook, it's only 10", it's a tiny little thing.

Can you post some picture, maybe video.
I was thinking of getting laptop and combining it with line6 port, I like what you did.

I was thinking about similar option for our silent practice sessions, but didn't have Toneport at that time, I sold it. I guess it can be done and sound decent too, why not smile.gif
