I was looking at bad_tel's avatar, and I got an idea for a fun project I could probably do alone. I have a fender with no really appealing aspects, so I rarely play it. I want to edit a picture of Venom of Spiderman, make it into a sticker, and put it onto the Fender. It's a pretty cheap guitar, and I'm pretty good with Photoshop so it wouldn't be too hard.

One problem, I can't find a life sized picture of the Fender to edit the Venom picture onto. If anyone has one, I'm begging you to post it.

Of course, the end picture will be posted here, for anyone else who might want it. I'll also take requests for other guitar types, but you'll need to supply me with a picture thats perfectly sized to fit it.

Enlarging the picture wouldn't be hard, but since I can't really get the size of the guitar just right, I figured it might be better to ask you guys for help.

I know, just measure you guitar, by width, and heighth, on the parts that you need to place the sticker, and then just enlarge one onto yoru copmuter, from a pic

Hmm, that's a good idea. It'll have to wait till tomorrow because I've got nothing to measure it with right now, but thanks for the suggestion.

Anyone else is still encouraged to post the pics, however.

Hate to throw a potential spanner in the works - but aren't there some minor differences in the profiles between some Fenders strats - ie the radius of the top horn, position of bridge/pickups, design of scratch plate, number/placing of scratchplate screws and a few others?

Don't think it's a potential deal breaker unless there is some crucial bit of the character on the design? Might just be worth making sure that you have a like for like template to work from though.

Cheers,
Tony

You're probably right Tony, but I've only got experience with my own Fender, so I can't really comment about the differences. For now I think I'll go with

http://www.kinman.com/images/inside/toneWo...0th%20Anniv.jpg

as a template. It seems to be around the right size. Since it takes relatively little time (something I have a lot of), and doesn't cost more than the price of sticker paper, I think I can afford screwing up a few times.

Edit: I just hope the picture loads within this year...

Should still be ok Ayen as long as no important bits of the design are in bits that might have changed on the fender with years/models- probably the extremes of the fender design. Does sounds like a great idea smile.gif . And post a pic when done please.

Cheers,
Tony

I'm uploading 7 designs I've done so far. I haven't spent more than 5 minutes on any of them, and probably wont until I decide on a final design. Since Venom was starting to become a bit repetitive at just two pictures, I added in Spawn and Tyrael from Diablo 2. The outside of the guitar is a bit jagged, because I had to get the outline of it, then delete the inside, invert it and delete the outside of every picture put on top of the body. Can I get any feedback on what you guys think is the best one?

Thanks to it being put on Photobucket, I can only give links, as the image size is bigger than Andrew's requested size.

I realize now that some don't have the oval for the chord, but this can easily be fixed so I won't address it immediately.

Sure thing, I've come across a few problems, the biggest being the a single piece of paper doesn't cover the entire guitar, or anything near it, so I have to get the sizing exactly right, and fit on a few different pages. I don't expect to be done any time soon with school and all, but I'll definitely show the finished product.
