Hey, i dont know how famous Engl-amps in the whole world are. I hope here are a few people who know them.

Im thinking about buying a engl fireball. i get a good offer, but i dont know if this is the right one.

most repords in the www are from metal-gitarrists but im playing much hardrock and red hot chily peppers, guns and roses and stuff like this...
do you think thats a cool amp for that kind of music?

well, ENGL´s are heads for extreme music mostly. you´ll get a professional tone for sure, but I think you give it a try before buy it, ´cause I know it´s an amp designed for metal, and perhaps it wont be so useful in the styles you´re playing right now.

The fireball is a good amp for metal, you should check it out, it should be able to deliver good hard rock sounds too, other options would eb the Ritchie Blackmore amp from Engl for example (to stick with that company)

Marcus is right, the ENGL blackmore is the most Rock'ish amp from the ENGL series. All ENGL amps have a good or decent rock sound, even the Fireball and Powerball but they are mainly aimed for Metal.

Also play an ENGL before you buy one, they have their own sound which is very modern and cold, you may love but you might aswell don't like it!

Both guitar players in my band has the Screamer 50 combo, and one of them is a jazzhead as well.

IMO, the Screamer (and surely other Engl amps except the most metallish ones) can deliver any kind of tone you want, unless you want every tone to sound like the amp was built for just THAT tone (if you catch my drift tongue.gif ).
And I believe the fireball for hardrock would be an excellent choise if you have a nice price.

wow, the Ritchie Blackmore sounds great! i saw a few videos on youtube. hm, maybe thats really a better amp for me. but 1200€ is much money for me, mainly because im not that great player that i need an amp like that.

i can get the fireball top + 412 engl box for 1000€, and its just 2 years old.

hm, i m not sure what to do, that will be a hard decision.

thanks for helping me!

I think the ENGL Screamer or Thunder seem to be great and not over the top neither in price nor sound.

Add to that the cost for new poweramp tubes, bias and work. Unless it's already taken care of. Even if the tubes are still ok that will be a cost for you to bear, possibly in the close future.

With a new set of tubes (preamp AND poweramp) it's a good deal. In any case: Go and try the amp out!!!!

I doen't matter if you make a bargain on an amp you might not like...

Definitely test the Fireball head, and preferably on some warm cabinet, cause they can often be notorious because of their cold and sterile tone. Some people might prefer it tho, and possibly with the right cab choice, it can sound good.

I really can't find anything cold or sterile in my Engl Souvereign,
it sounds wonderful on every channel tho I hook it up with G-Force and do
some extra tweaking there.
But I get every tone that comes on my mind, from Knoplfer's sweet drives and cleans
up to Heavy riffs, really. smile.gif
