I would never spend that kind of money on one effect, but I do like the emulation of the old tape delay on my ELEVEN RACK Probably as close as i'm gonna get. It's got a great emulation of a EP Tape Echo—based on the Maestro Echoplex EP-3. Great for vintage tones. There are some really good plugins from UAD and BRAINWORX that do the same thing as well. But hey, if you've got a grand to throw at a tape based delay I say go for it!! Doesn't comment much about tape delay but it's very informative while demoing some delays, I'm pretty sure very few guitarists these days think about delay tone; You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. FOR EXAMPLE! A delay setting of about 90ms will thicken up your guitar tone a bit and make lead passages cut a bit better. A nice way to play with delay tone is using send channels on DAW, after the delay and level setuped rest is really fun like adding tubes, tape, distortion...I think expensive digitals delays nowadays work like this too as for routing so the guitar tone is less effected. Yngwie used to pull this trick to add percussiveness to his picking.
