Hey Nody!
There is a Heavy Metal For Beginners series by me, and i think you will find something interesting for you there! Use the search function on our main page and type in RIFFING and you'll see plenty of riffing lessons! It's not bad to be inspired by Hetfield, but be sure that you will outgrow him and become better than he is Enjoy riffing m8! -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

hey, Hetfield is one of my idols (mainly cos im metallica mad and i like singing and playing at the same time)
anyways, ive found that to be able to play the rythm to battery and things of that speed you need to alternate pick alot while keeping the sound of downstrokes (i find them a little heavier) the way i do this is to slightly palm mute the strings your playing (just a tiny bit) and alternate pick in time... try holding the pick inbetween your thumb and your index AND middle finger, makes the pick that little more stable and easier to pick fast. hope that helps a little bit. -------------------- Guitars: Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ Dual EMG 81 Pickups. a great way to learn to use palm muting like that is to practice the rythm to One... its a great song and really fun to play on rythm and lead.

its just the timing that you hit the string. it'll come with practice. as said before by pavel, try the heavy metal for beginners lessons, theyll help alot.
try playing with some iron maiden songs for a galloping rythm as alot of their songs use that type of rythm. -------------------- Guitars: Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ Dual EMG 81 Pickups.
