Recently I checked into Andreas Oberg's guitar universe site. Although I try to learn from all styles, I feel a bit "out-numbered" or "lonely" being more of a jazz/funk style played, with not much of a metal background. My thought was to try both sites at the same time, to see what I think.

Well, although Andreas is a great player, I didn't really like the "trial video lessons" offered. They were long, boring, didn't seem very well planned out, and basically.....he seemed to be just going off of the top of his head, but on a particular topic. Whereas, GMC lessons are VERY well thought out, very concise, and include SO MANY great tools built right into the video window and more!!

Also, the site seemed "spammy". I gave my email to recieve a free lesson download, but then the link wanted me to agree to terms and conditions that I couldn't even view!! One of the BIGGEST factors in making me originally choose GMC over other sites back in November.....

1.) I could view ALL lessons, not just 10 "trial" lessons!! Sure, some functionality is limited to members, but being able to view 10 diff lessons all the way through showed me that you BELIEVE in what you're doing, as opposed to SELLING/TRICKING me into paying for something that I cannot see!! I'm in sales, and I do not respect "being sold". I don't sell that way. I believe in my products, pricing and service....so I just do my job better than anyone else, and sell because my product is better. No "tricks"!!

2.)Bogdan. (I've mentioned this before) For some reason my CC had an issue for the first payment, so I switched to paypal (no issues). But I was on the fence, and ALMOST didn't sign up because of the CC issue....but Bogdan came to the rescue and went above and beyond, and offered me a "trial" membership. If he had not done that, I would not be here today!!

Thanks again GMC, I just occasionally like to remind you why you're better than the other sites, and why I'm HAPPY to pay my membership every month, even if I may not get a ton of time to use it that month!! I just like to always have you with me.

I remember when I was deciding to join checking out all the free stuff GMC had to offer. I still can't believe how much stuff on this site is free. I sometimes think it's too much.

I still remember it was the video chats that hooked me. I could see them for free but couldn't participate. I felt left out so I had to join! smile.gif

I've had to deal with salesmen for years & I certainly don't buy much, if any, from the pushy ones. You can tell a good salesman when they realize by helping you succeed, they will inevitably succeed as well.

I guess it has been awhile since I joined & I do remember checking out some other sites. But there was something unique to GMC & I have never regretted it. Everyone encourages one another at GMC & there is hardly (if any) negativity here. I feel lucky to be a member here & I'll say it too, "GMC, You Really Are Awesome!" smile.gif

You know what I really like about GMC is the community and "nearness" to teachers - chat sessions, constant interaction on the boards - highly skilled and motivated instructors - it's just a great community for an inspiring musician to be part of. You should always surround yourself with like minds if you want to excel in something - it's very easy to do here at GMC.

I'm also a big fan of the collaborations. They are a great ice-breaker to newcomers to interact in a musical way, and lets face it - if you're here to learn music, then you're here because you want to be able to play and share music - the collaborations are a great introductory way of getting that ball rolling, where the backing tracks are created for you - all you have to do is record a take and whala - you're part of a CD quality single!

Many kudos to the instructors and Kristopher Dahl who made this site a reality.

I've only been here for a short time, and I wish I knew about this site sooner. Everyone is so supportive, and there is something for everyone. I think what I like most is the mentoring program. My first day Gabriel invited me into his program, and has been a great experience. I think my guitar playing has improved more in the short time than it has in a long time. And like SirJamsalot said all the teachers seem so accessable, and always seem to be around in the forums. I know I'm just begining to learn my way around but thanks to everyone and all the hard work that goes into it all.
