GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Band Name

Posted by: jammer91 Oct 29 2007, 09:42 PM

Im looking for a band name and am open to all ideas. The genre we play is sorta messed up cause its a mix of many but ill list them out:
-Metal (Metallica sound)
-Metalcore (eg BFMV)
-Hardcore Punk (eg Rise Against)
-Pop Punk (the offspring and sum 41)
-Alternative (eg Breaking Benjamin)
-Grunge (Nirvana type)

Were mainly focusing along the metal line (though wed prefer versatility). smile.gif
If you have some good names and are ready to reccomend it pleas do.

Thanks for wasting your time wink.gif ,
Aaron

That is a very broad range of sounds Jammer, so you will want to appeal to a large audience. I will have a good thing about it for you.

I am looking for a name for my solo act also!

Well thanks Matt.

Why dont you use your real name for a solo act (isint that its usually done?).

Oh wait, youre a bucket head fan so you need something different (really different).

I gave it a thought and couldnt find a name for a solo artist (its hard to beat something like buckethead, which is totally unconventional for a solo guitarist).

The british hard rock group Samson isn't active any longer but still... it would sound copied.

13th Heretic

Its a punt? I was tempted to use something with 13 in it for my band, too bad I'm not superstitious.

Posted by: Bondy Oct 30 2007, 01:49 AM

Never heard of them before sorry

Understandable, with so many bands around it's amazing there are still any names available.
Bruce Dickinson was in Samson there before Iron Maiden.

Ahh thanks for the info

Look in media, like books, movies, comics, art, just look everywhere, religion, history, great band names are hidden in there.

How about something like...The Citadel, or how about Black Mesa (pronounced May-Sah), some of you can guess where i got that from wink.gif

I really like the idea of being unconventional and different! Unfortuantly my real name is not as Cool as "Steve Vai" for exmaple wink.gif

How about Injected Insanity. Back in the 90s I played drums for punk band with that name . It never went past a few drunken backyard partys lol. Always thought it was a good name. I dont think anyone is using it.

The Male Who Cares

print too many posters, announce their songs too often on the radio and read their name too many times on the top charts and it becomes The Male Hookers

Posted by: jammer91 Oct 30 2007, 10:06 PM

Today on the way to business class and i was stormed by crowds (of pesky 10th and 9th graders) in a really narrow hallway. It was like me alone in a sea of unknown faces. Right there i got a name.... Shadows and faces

Asked my drummer he was like ok with it but he claims it sounds emo or goth (he should make up his mind).

What do you think of the name?

Thanks for the names suggestions smile.gif . I know coming up with a name requires effort and creativity (not a one second thought)....

Thanks,
Weve even got some strange ideas (sort of what no band has done), so you guys will be seeing threads and a huge banner on my sig marketting the band.

The lead guitarist also has a RG1570, its a great guitar and i dont know how but its a lot easier to play fast.

Posted by: 1mpr1m1s Oct 31 2007, 02:56 AM

Cant wait to see the banner. Yes I love my RGR1570 ,its my baby biggrin.gif

Red Team Go!

Posted by: Spiderusalem Oct 31 2007, 03:12 AM

How about:

the Randy Pandas!

or

Metallironmaidaspriestestamenirvananthrax

For Mattacuk:

Paperbaghead

Baskethead

Pillowcasehead

Backpackhead

Lampshadehead

Hollowedoutteddybearhead

Smalltelevisionhead

newspapers+someductapehead

you gotta think outside the bucket

See, what I've done here is quite simple. I've taken the suffix of "head" and juxtaposed it to other everyday objects.

For Mattacuk: Why not M-attac(k) or something around you forum name?

When its one word it sounds cool.

When you seperate a letter in the beginning...

M-attack

It tends to sound like Chinese toy marketing.

Posted by: Owen Nov 1 2007, 01:53 AM

Mattakhead?

Anyone? Anyone?

Nooooo?

*Runs away*

Could be a winner there though - just think of all the marketing spin offs.

Matt you just need to get the little bendy 'M-attack' dolls in to the shops for XMas though. Sure to sell by the bucket load smile.gif . You could accessories them with little guitars and kfc buckets and masks and stuff.

(Sadly it might not be good for your ego to see them reduced to 1/3rd price and in the bargain bin on Jan 1st unsure.gif blink.gif .)

Cheers,
Tony

This has always been something difficult to come up with i think everyone struggles with this. As for the band name you came up with though, in my honest opinion it sounds more like a song name or an album rather then a band name

Posted by: Smikey2006 Nov 1 2007, 07:22 AM

Im a fan of very Heavy sounding names my favorite band name at the moment is Threat Signal therefore ive based a few names around that:

Day of Downfall
Faceless
Shadows End
It Whispers Death
Destroyer

So on and So forth

Posted by: Rawk on Nov 1 2007, 07:46 AM

How about Enuresis? It means to urinate. laugh.gif

Sorry, I always thought that would be great to have a fan go home and look that one up!
