Haha...I find this very funny because I get the same kind of objective feedback every week and I love it. Emir really made a very serious analyze of the takes. From my point of view, beside some things which are true and audible, the rest of things pointed are subjective and based on personal taste. Anyway it's quite impossible in a collab to resonate with all the solos. It's better to get used with this idea from the start, to not be disappointed after. Also, probably not all the instructors found the backing track very inspiring. This thing (no matter of what level you are) makes you play repetitive elements which let the feeling of a jamming not of a solo. This is true Moni. I've been teaching guitar for 20 years and one thing that I've learnt is that every person is different and while some kind of feedback can be useful for some students, it can be hurtful for others. My main goal as a teacher is to help students to become better guitarists, but also feel motivated and enjoy the process. I try to adapt my feedback to get a good balance among those things based on each student's personality. -------------------- My lessons

And Kris you can tell you have come freaking far since then https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=21439 I listened back and was positively surprised, I think my take was pretty decent. The melody was phrased in a fresh way and my picking chops were better than I remember them. Tone feels amazing! There are some timing issues when I connect some of the licks though - back in the day my approach to soloing was to write the solo in my head and then just "copy and paste / punch in" it as fast as possible in my DAW. Pretty much the opposite of the improvised approach I adopted later on. Because I had no desire to experiment with tone, I just kept using a setup that worked. Gives a consistent but kinda predictable result. |
