I was recently in cinema trying to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 3D, and there were some problems with the projection, we left at half of the movie. I would try to stay and watch it (they rewinded the movie 10mins), but it was not that interesting, or not that 3D either. New movies are rarely good, I'm leaning towards some TV series.

Just got back from the cinema watching Rio with the kids. How unexpected huh?

I also saw Pirates of the Caribbean in 3D lately. I'm not much a of a fan of the series and it was a really long movie....

But is it just me or the whole 3D thing was over hyped in the film industry?

Now when I think about it - it doesn't really add much the the experience and it kinda has opposite effect.
Wonder if movies are going to use it smarter or technology will have to change to "no glasses" design...

3D is overrated and it sucks too, since if the screen isn't filling out the whole wall, it'll suck since you can see that it is going at you, like 3D does, but at some points it just stops, because the screen isn't big enough...

Other than that I haven't seen any new movies, much more of a TV series guy smile.gif, plus alot of the new movies sucks, especially because they use a lot of their resources on the "awesome" 3D stuff..

But the last was probably Avatar, horrible movie, pocahontas all over again ^^.

Last movie I watched in theaters was Tron in 3D. I'm more than likely going to see the new Jim Carey movie about the penguins tho.

I think it is. I like the concept but I can't stand wearing the glasses since I already wear a pair as is just sits uncomfortably for me. I truly believe its a ploy to get more money in general since they charge extra for them. Like my friend bought one of the Nintendo 3DS its cool but after like 10m of using it I lost interest and just turned the 3D off.

Dale and Tucker vs Evil

Quite a funny twist on the typical 'college teens go to forest' horror movies.

I am currently watching the new HBO series inspired by the book called "A tale of ice and fire"!

The series is called "A game of thrones" and it's been keeping me stuck to my chair each monday night biggrin.gif gotta get me the books.

Yeah - I wear glasses too and it's uncomfortable to me also + comehow I sometimes see "double" picture instead of 3D.
Now it occured to me that maybe I should sit more closely to the screen (to fill in my full angle of vision) in order to get a better experience. I do see 3D when I'm far away from the theater screen but it's somehow like I'm looking through the window...

Azza, Tucker and Dale is the funniest horror movie you'll ever get to see. Doghouse is pretty funny too.
I was a bit disappointed by Hangover 2, thought the first one was way funnier. Just seen Who is Hanna this week, really great movie!

Hmmm I gotta see that one! smile.gif

Thanks for recommendation.

@Christian - totally agree with you there!

Tucker and Dale is quite a good laugh (recommended but probably just a one watch movie).

Hangover 2 was disappointing, it's ok, but a lot like the previous one (just not as good).

I've seen a lot of movies, but I haven't seen Doghouse yet, might check it out.

Movies I've watched this year which I recommend (depending on taste):

LIMITLESS 2011
A non-addictive drug allows temperary access to all your brain, letting you climb quickly up the business chains into whatever you want to do, but leads to a new type of addictions and dangers.

Hobo with a Shotgun (2011)
Very bloody, serious but also funny, a homeless man after enough money just to buy a lawn mower to start up a small business... decides to clean up the streets first with a shotgun and go vigilante blowing away crooked cops and other scumbags from the streets!

(warning graphic content)

Source Code
The brain has a memory print on the time of death. Source Code lets you relive the last 8 minutes of a dead guys memory to hunt for a terrorist. Makes some sense and a great movie, till they mess up the logics with the bad ending.

Last one I watched was "Season of the witch", I give it a 6/10, in other words, passable, only good to watch if you have nothing else better wink.gif

Posted by: dark dude Jun 7 2011, 11:35 PM

The last was.. Take Me Home Tonight.

80's themed (not a parody), and done convincingly. Has some very funny parts, but is also a RomCom. Stars Topher Grace (That 70's show) and Anna Faris (Scary Movie series).

X-Men: First Class. One of the sickest movies i have ever seen in my life biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
