You can change the way how you play riffs or solos,
play them on your own, add some stuff that you like
while still keeping the same riff, melody etc.

Blues is about feel mate, if its boring then its got no "Feel" to it, speed, riffs and technique mean zip in the blues, it has to speak to you deep inside!

check these out........

Peter Green was a master at feel and dynamics, he shows what can be acieved with the lightest of touches!

Or you could try some of Gary Moores ferocious picking style!!

Either way mate, an injection of feel can make the world of difference!

+1

Even boring tune (if there's is such) would sing if you add some feel.

That's what I was talking about, make those 3 chords more interesting.
add some flavors on your own, throw few extra notes in, it won't hurt.
What's the name of the song/s btw?

Blues is not about that it's mainly about feel. But if you don't really know how to enhance the songs, a lot of different components can be put into that frame and make it a bit more interesting. I would also like to know what are those songs, possibly then we can make some suggestions?

Possibly a sample if there are no links?

No need to call it stupid indeed,
very often the most simple compositions have highest values.
I would really love to help more, even record few examples for you
but I would need to listen to the original first. smile.gif

the beauty is in the simplicity! A 12 bar blues with a 1,4,5 progression can be augmented by the use of so many different scales, Dorian, Mixolydian, minor pentatonics with major thirds, the list is endless! Yous houyld look at Ivans lesson on the 12 bar blues frame as it gives some great ideas for chord substitution giving completely different feel to the whole song.
Blues is music in its purest form, the simple fact is that there are only two types of music, before the blues and after the blues!

Just by embellishing the basic chords using 7th's, 9th's, 11th's and 13th's can make a lot of difference!
So does just using different inversions. You can change it again by just doing a Half-step slide into each chord, Tritone Substitution, using a ii-V-I over the V chord.......

The list goes on!!!!!!!
