haha, here i am, again!

Ok, there is a big musical event in 4 weeks in my school. In my school we have 2 really good guitarists (they can only play system of a down and Bullet for my valentine songs, but they can play them really good!). My goal is to beat them in some kind of guitar duel smile.gif

Some facts about me:

My legato is pretty good, although i do need to practice scales more often.
My blues skills are pretty good, I can do some cool tricks
My AP is ......very, veryyyyyy bad..... (Btw, i hate to practice just pure speedpicking)

______________________________________

I have increased my play time to 5 hours a day (sometimes i even play 10 hours if i get the chance). My question to you is : How in earth am i going to play like a pro in 4 weeks, what killer techniques/riffs/licks can make me win this competition

Please tell me if you got a good schedule so i can achieve my goals.

4 weeks huh... I have one that relates to swing. How's this for a duel - Bring a cheap guitar, swing hard to strike them over the head with it laugh.gif

Maybe some instructors can come up with better ideas.

If your tapping is good aswell, you could try some 2 handed tapping stuff of Michael Romeo, but I think that's really hard stuff and you had to practice a lot smile.gif
You probably would win that guitar duel then wink.gif

i dont think so in a 4 week you can be a professional let say 6 monthes are enough if you are practicing
every day for 2 to 3 hours

Dude practice a funky lesson, and go ahead.

Try muris's modern blues soloing, that is one badass lesson, and amazing use off vibrato, and has the gary moore vibe.
I dont think you need ap to be cool.
But the amount ur practicing, try to squeeze ap 2 hours a day, im telling you will make alot of diff.
By the way, i hope your not doing this to put someone down, that is just not cool.
But yea otherwise rockon.....oh man i really hope u impress and get the ladies wub.gif or turn some heads in anycase cool.gif

Hmm, my only suggestion is to do some flashy techniques that are relatively easy to learn and look good. Don't expect miracles in 4 weeks man. You can't make your technique much better, but you can learn those songs that they know in that time and throw in some licks in them. Maybe try my pentatonic sliding lesson, it will increase you agility over the fretboard, and it is a relatively easy to learn tho may look a little hard at glance.

It seems the way forward would be learning glashy tricks and some cool licks.

Dont focus on scale knowledge in preperation, just learn a few licks note for note and practise them hard.

It'll be better for you to do a few licks well than lots poorly.

Whammy bar tricks and hand over legato seem like great bets.

Learn to play with your feet. That'll blow them away biggrin.gif

Either that or learn quick tricks. Bit of whammy dives, tapping, cross hand legato.
