GMC Forum _ Recording _ Backing Tracks

Posted by: Macmugge Mar 30 2008, 10:03 AM

Hi
I have only been a member for a few days so maybe this is a stupid question, but is it possible to download the backingtracks for the different lessons on this site? I want to download the backingtracks so that I can monitor my progression over time, but I haven'r been able to download the backing tracks so far - I only get to se a player with the different tracks. Is it possible at all, and if so, can anyone tell me how I do it.

Thanks,

/Michael

It is not possible

Is overyone okay with that? For me it's a really big problem, because I only play through my soundcard (Line6 UX KB37). This means that I'm getting my guitar sound using that soundcard. For playing music I use the internal soundcard built into the PC. This means, as far as I know, that I'm not able hear the two sound sources through the same set of speakers? Does anyone have a solution to that - except for having two set of speakers.

I don't understand fully what is the connection between your problem with your sound card and backing tracks?

It is of course possible, but I don't know if am allowed to post it here.
If it is desired I can make a tutorial, for downloading lessons videos too, but I won't do anything that could inflict damage on GMC, so if iam allowed give me notice

regards,
Skalde

I really dont think either of those is a good idea mate...

Try changing your audio output device in control panel from the onboard sound to what you are running you guitar through. That should hopefully work out okay for you.

edit: typo

AS deep roots said , go to my computer>control panel > sound and audio devices> audio> for sound playbacks default device choose your line6 card through which you play your guitar.. Click OK..Now you should be able to hear all windows sounds and everything thorough that card on which you play guitar too wink.gif

Enjoy.. wink.gif

Deeproots is right here mate - please don't as it's not allowed at present.

Don't worry man. It's just the fact that all the material is that of the instructors and GMC. If people were able to download freely, some would most definitely be using it in the wrong way. I.E representing it as there own. smile.gif

Thanks for your understanding Skalde, as Tony says, we don't allow this at present as free GMC videos on yutube or somewhere would harm GMCs revenues and therefore expansion for the future.

If we can figure out a secure way to do this I think it would be desirable, its just not possible for the reasons above at present.

Thanks for all the answers. I'll try to change my settings as suggested by Deeproot and Bogdan and hopefully that will do the trick. And Skalde, I appreciate that you think of GMC and ask others before "breaking the law" ;-). If Deeproot's and Bogdan's suggestion works, I can live with that, but I still think it's a shame that I won't be able to record myself playing to the backing tracks. It's my way of monitoring my progression over time :-(
