He does say some wacky stuff sometimes, but I"ve read quite a bit of his work and he's a serious scholar/academic/scientist. He is one of the scientists owning up to the fact that scientists under estimated the "Solar Max" sun activity that is about to hit and encouraging companies to reinforce their satellites and such to keep from having some problem when we get a big sun flare.
