Well I came to the conclusion that my Les Paul just wasnt doing it for me anymore, I love the tone, looks, history and everything about them but the playability was seriously lacking for me, I found more and more it was just sitting in my rack so off to ebay it went.
Then an interesting proposition came up, a guy asked if I would be willing to trade for his guitar that had cost him 2300 only three months before so to cut a long story short here is my new guitar.

A Lag Imperator I3000 mastershop in Spalted Maple.

These are not to be confused with the cheaper ranges, they are hand built guitars and are easily on a par with Huber, Anderson, PRS etc
Its basically the Les Paul design moved into another dimension and the quality of the materials and components is top class, the spec is lengthy but the highlights for me are:

African Mahogany body: somehow lighter than normal Mahogany!
Ergonomic neck joint: the set neck is contoured every way and makes top fret access ridiculously easy, stunning piece of workmanship!
Ebony board with ebony binding: The ebony is as black as coal ann the matching binding gives the look of an unbound neck, beatifully warm and playable.
Custom pickups: the custom Seymour's on this are great humbuckers, not too hot (Hotter than vintage though!) and incredibly clear, both have individual coil splits.
Neck: Not sure what the finish is but after the sticky nitro finish of the LP its beautifully smooth, also reinforced with titanium rods for tuning stability.
Hardware: Rather than tacky bright gold the hardware has an almost antique finish, a graphtec nut and gotoh precision tuners finish off the look.
Headstock: Has a carved ebony facing, for no reason other than it looks cool, gotta love the french sense of style!
top: Well, just look at it! amazing!

I love this thing, it has a lot of the character of a les paul with none of the drawbacks, I will post some demos soon!

Well, the story goes that he got rid of a Les Paul and a carvin to get this, but he is moving to Australia where Les Paul's are very expensive and in his words, he just couldnt face going without one! why he didnt just take this beauty with him is beyond me!
