GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Learn Songs Using Audacity

Posted by: zen Nov 3 2009, 02:01 AM

Ok, most of you would already know this, but for those who dont, refer to the video below to learn any song (including figuring out harmonies) using audacity (free software). Use tabs only for reference and learn the rest by ear.. Good luck

Thanks for sharing! Using DAW to make loops and slow down parts is a very useful feature! smile.gif

Useful video smile.gif I would just add that you can slow down and shift pitch in pretty much any DAW (digital audio workstation).

Thanks Pedja ... Yep.. It's useful when one does'nt wanna change the tunnig of your guitar to match the tuning of the lesson .. Just pitch shift the backing tracking to suit your guitar's tuning smile.gif

Is it possible to slow down without changing the pitch in reaper?

Wow this is helpful !
I never got dedicated enough to scroll back every time I can't figure out part of a song, so it takes ages for me to learn it. Only the loop function on itself is so very useful!

I did this on couple of occasions in Nuendo, but the time stretch function ruins the audio after some time. Still it is good thing to have, notes can be analyzes this way if needed as well, as oposed to just listening the song in real tempo.
