Hey everyone. So, as some of you may have noticed, I returned not too long ago to GMC. And, now that I can easily record videos and have more confidence in myself, I'd like to get some feedback. Here are a lot of examples of my playing. Please do provide lots of criticism. All the playing examples were absolutely random and nothing too serious, many of them were recorded before warming up or as a warmup.

Welcome back smile.gif Great to have you with us again! You have the aggressive approach down to a science to be sure! It comes across in your playing. It's good to sound a bit aggro when playing heavy stuff. The good news is that you can still sound hostile even if you pull back just a pinch on each individual pick strike. You may be over committing a bit to each strike which reduces your recovery time for the next strike. Sometimes, you want to dig in and really give the strings a good lashing, sometimes less so. You'll find a balance as time goes on.

Your right hand seems very active and you can get it whipped in to a good lather on picking! Some of the bends could use a pinch of polish, but that too comes with practice. You are coming along very well it seems and have some spiff axes to choose from as well. Now that you are back, I'd say try to hop in to things that are outside your comfort zone. For example, gabes Funk Collab. It's not Metal, its' Funk! Each person takes a chunk of the solo and then the next guy jumps in. You can interpret the backing any way you like and play anything you want over it. It would be a good chance to put your techniques to the test and work on creating a solo to a backing. The more of this you can do, the better. Guitar doesn't happen in a vacuum after all, it's just one instrument among many, and learning where it fits, is part of the process.

After all, all the technique in the world is pointless if you can make a solo work over a given piece of music. This too, takes time/practice. So do as many of these as you can in order to get to the place you want to be as quickly as possible. Here is the link!

Also, dive in to the REC program as you get 3 different instructors giving you feedback on each one. That feedback is a great way to find out what needs to be focused on as you move forward.

So well played!! Welcome back to GMC and back to BOOT CAMP!!!! Keep practicing and keep it fun so that you keep it up. The worst thing a musician can do is just not play anymore imho.
